Hello hibiscus friends. Everyones great pictures inspired me to get outside an take a few today starting with Hibiscus "Dark Charm"
Hibiscus "Dark Charm"
A pretty Dark Charm, The Scobeys made a good job with this one ... and others. Don't you hybridize? I see the pads very clean.
Regards
Carlos
Thanks carlos. No, I don't hybridize although I wish I knew how to. Actually I had never done any gardening at all until about 2 years ago. I'm still, very much so, living and learning about all kinds of plants/flowers.
Love your black dragon and dark charm.
Well Amore....it looks like about this time of year, you me and Robert will be the only ones posting. BUT, it keeps all our northern friends happy :)
PS....Amore;
Everyone calls me "Cat". Short for Cathy:)
I'm a regular, but had a bit of trouble for the last few months, and overworked. But, life is gaining some sort of normal-ness, so you will see alot more of me:)

I knew you were a regular here Cat. I've been a member of Daves Garden for quite some time but had never posted any pictures until very recently (didn't have a digital camera). I checked out all your other photos. Holy moses...you have tons of Hibiscus. I noticed that your Da Vinci also first bloomed with much more white in it and then changed to more pink during the summer weather. It will be interesting to see if the white returns now that the weather is beginning to cool.
Jon
Jon, do you have all your hibiscus in pots? It looks like those photos (fabulous as always) look like they are from potted plants.
Hi Fla Chick. Hope you're enjoying this cooler weather. It's such a nice change. I have about half my Hibiscus in pots and half of them in the ground. Many of the potted ones are inside the screened area around the pool. The advantage with this area is the screening minimizes bug/pest problems. I also like putting them there because when they bloom I can just move the pot and put it right by the sliding glass door for the day and enjoy the blooms from the comfort of the couch. Here are two pictures from yesterday (Mon Oct 27) of a couple of Hibiscus that are planted in the ground. This one is Hibiscus "Nightfire" which didn't bloom much during the summer but has been blooming like crazy the past few weeks.
Great idea, and great pictures. I badly need to get that Nightfire, along with about 3 dozen others you guys have posted.
Thanks Fla Chick. I know what you're going through. I stumbled across these Hybrid Hibiscus for the first time about 2 years ago and it rapidly became a passion. Unfortunately now I have to be more selective due to not as much available space.
You've collect all of these in only 2 years? You must have had an obsession in something else before then. All of us "collectors" collect things all our lives. Im collecting, daylilies, chickens, now hibiscus. So fess up, what else do you collect? Have you always lived where you live now for your hibiscus collection?
Yes, just the in the past 2 years. I had never done any gardening whatsoever until 2 years ago. The only other thing I collect/used to collect is music from around the world. There's quite a bit of good quality English language music being produced elsewhere in the world that we will never hear in the USA. I needed a break from that and somehow decided on gardening.
Jon
Oh wow...I think Id fall over if I had that blooming in my garden.
