I'll see what I can fix up for them. I've never met Jerome and it's been a long time since I met Dave and Bullwinkle at the Butchart Gardens (early July). Could you please send me some height and width measurements?
Gnomes Wandering White Lake
Ann, here ya go:
Dave:
H - 8.5 "
W -3.5" (at arms)
from neck to feet: 4.5"
Bullwinkle:
H - 6"
W - 4.5" (at arms)
from neck to feet: 3.5"
Jerome:
H - 6"
W - 2.5" (at arms)
from neck to feet: 3"
I think Jerome is going to be difficult to fit a cape onto - he's got those darned flowers that he won't put down.
Sandy
I don't mind telling you that I'm concerned about them sleeping outside but they insisted. The only reason I relented is that it's only going down to +5C tonight, so it shouldn't be too bad.
Sheesh, that's all I need .... is to have to worry about 3 sick gnomes!
Sandy
Such fun! Sandy, your garden is lovely even in the Fall.
Thanks! :-)
Love that photo of Wadawaska beach, very serene looking.
ALL the pics are amazing Sandy .. aren't the Boys a handful .. BUT .. fun as well :-)
I think they'll do fine outside tonight .. cold and flu season aren't in full swing as of yet..
Enjoy your weekend ..
~M~
Enjoying the boys adventures with you Sandy! Hilarious. And lovely scenic photos.
Joanne
Thanks, gals. I'm glad you are following along and enjoying their journey as much as I have been.
I've just got home and I am reluctant to check on them all in case they think I'm a bit overbearing (Besides, it's awful dark out there) - so I'll wait until morning to see what transpires!
Sandy
I'm following the thread, and loving the commentary as much as the great pics. I'm on the list to receive the lads soon, but I'm wondering if I can either team up with Erynne, or drop out, as I've had a little accident and have one arm in a cast. I can't drive or hold a camera at the moment, and I'll have the cast on for at least 4 weeks, maybe 6. I'm not sure I can cope with the lads one-handed.
June
Oh June, What a bummer! We haven't heard much from Erynne recently and a quick search for her seems to indicate that she's not presently a subscriber. We'll try to get hold of her. I'm betting that Sandy has her email address. Or maybe we can find her on Facebook.
Ann
Aw, so sorry about your arm, June! Erynne is no longer subscribed and I don't want to be intrusive so we'll have to assume she's off the gnome list. That IS a bummer that you won't be able to participate - but let me tell ya.... you are right in saying that you wouldn't be able to cope with the lads one-handed. They are definitely a handful - and you only have one!
There is a list that is accompanying the lads and I guess I'll regretfully scratch you off? Hey, there may yet be an opportunity to catch them on their return journey (next spring??!)
Sandy
I've had quite a day - remember the boys slept outside last night? Well, it started raining at some point during the night and it's been raining ever since.
I now have 3 gnomes that are sneezing and sniffling and hacking and coughing. I've got hot water bottles, kleenex and chicken soup on the go, steady.
I don't think they'll be able to make it to ViolaAnn in Ottawa for at least a couple of days - just as well, as there's more rain in the forecast.
In the meantime, I'll play nurse.
I'll keep you posted.
Sandy
Get well soon, little fellas...lots of Vitamin C.
The chicken soup should do the trick. And maybe some Echinacea too. Guess I'd better get cracking on those capes for them.
I swear by Echinacea...will certainly shorten the symptoms. Good luck, fellas.
Ann, if you could get working on those capes, that would certainly be most appreciated by all. Thanks!
DonM47 - I'll pass along your good wishes to the lads - but I've finally got them settled down, a big bowl of steaming chicken soup and lathering their chests with Vicks. Thanks for the Echinacea suggestion - must pick some up tomorrow!
Sandy
Sandy, your comment about lathering their chests with Vicks brings back all sorts of memories. My mom would do the same, as well as vicks on the throat then wrap one of my dad's wool socks around my throat, and have a vaporizer with a little spot to put a small scoop of Vicks. I haven't even seen a vaporizer like that for over 40 years now.
Linda
Linda,
I wonder if it's just a British thing? I didn't push the issue with my boys so much ... but, man, we even got Vick's up the nose when we were kiddies in Wales! Made us drink cabbage 'water' too (the water that the cabbage was boiled in). And if we ate our crusts we'd have curly hair. They sure knew what was good for us! LOL
Sandy
Edited to clarify that in this instance "my boys" means "my sons" lol

CARUMBA !! The Dudes are down with colds .. I'm sure you'll have them fit and well soon Sandy .. the 'OLD HOME' recipes do seem to work .. actually always believed that some of them were so repulsive that it scared the virus from us !!
June .. so sorry to hear about your arm .. speaking from experience with the Lads .. you FOR SURE need 2 hands as one of them , Dave, is sort of difficult to 'pose' LoL. The Spring Tour may be better suited for you.
GinnyLynn had mentioned she was going to be in touch with Erynne, however, she never did write back with regards as to whether she was staying "in" or opting "out" .. I would gather it's the latter.
Ann, Good luck with the Capes for our 'Canadian Crusaders' LoL
Take care
~M~
Erynne responded to my emails on Thursday and indicated she had already communicated to one person a while back and was going to dmail MarilynneS (who still had the boys at the time I originally emailed her). If you still haven't heard from her it would be a good idea to email her directly using her mailmasters account if you have it. Now that her sympatico account is dial-up she uses it very infrequently.
--Ginny
I've received a message from Glenda (ggd), our originator, that Erynne had indeed requested to be removed from The List that is accompanying the boys and I guess the communication just got missed with whoever had The List at the time, which happens. So, I've removed Erynne (and June) from The List now.
Sandy
The boys are much better today, but they are still sniffling and whining to go outside.
I insisted they stay in or they'd catch their death... Their eyes got big and then they seemed perfectly content to check out the Tiny Gardens forum.
Maybe tomorrow or Tuesday we'll make the trek for the Ottawa leg of their journey.
Sandy
Hi Sandy:
What a beautiful town you live in. My mom's family was all from around Eganville area, but I haven't been up there for over 50 years - now I remember what I'm missing.
Watch the boys carefully, or they're likely to take off into the woods if they find out they're being shipped to a city next .
~marilyn
Not a city like Ottawa! Lots of lovely things to see. We'll start with the Central Experimental Farm - http://www.friendsofthefarm.ca/aboutthefarm.htm
There are two rivers and a canal, a lovely waterfalls. It goes on and on ....
Marilyn ~ You are right - Eganville is such a pretty little town with lovely views. No way - the boys won't take off. In fact, they are more than ready for a bit of city life and civilization again! They sure like to be entertained. I believe you are next on the list after ViolaAnn.
The lads are all better and so looking forward to their trip to Ottawa today.
I'm leaving in about 5 minutes and I'll meet Ann at the Central Experimental Farm.
Better go, the boys are getting antsy!
Sandy
Good luck on your excursion to the farm :-) I'm sure the lads will be raring to go !!!!
Just looking at the forum now after a bit away .. I never did receive a D Mail from Erynne .. so I am positive removing her name from the list was OK.
It SNOWED here this morning .. just a skiff .. am sure the BOYS would have loved to go slippy sliding !!!! NOT !! :-)
~M~
Sandy and I spent the whole day showing the lads bits of Ottawa. The water was flowing pretty fast at a couple of spots on the Rideau River and we really had to struggle to keep Bullwinkle under control, but we managed. I plan to finish up their visit here by taking them to handbell practice on Thursday evening and then send them on their way. They are talking the s... word here for Wednesday; so they might get a chance to go slippy sliding. Must get their winter capes done first.
Once I've got the pictures from today downloaded and sorted I'll post them on a new thread.
Ann
Wow, that was a fun day! Many places I hadn't been to myself, so I thoroughly enjoyed it - and Ann is a great tour guide. Lots of water so I brought along Bullwinkle's safety rope, or leash, as Ann called it. lol
Sandy
