My EB garden and more (part2)

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

BocaBob and Paw,
I have the most beautiful organic compost and coffee grinds in my trellis bed, and right now it is completely EMPTY! Please tell me what seeds I can safely? toss out there right now for a cold weather harvest. Our avg. temps are running 80 degrees daytime, and 55-50 degrees at night.

I have thought about Chartenay carrots and Chiogga beets. How about it? Do I have time? I think I do. LMK soonest!

I think you are to late for seeds but Im not that familiar with your climate.Try to google Texas planting guide? I just picked up three blocks of Boca bobs coco coir blocks for replacement of some old mix that my eggplant does not seem to appreciate?

Forgot to mention Bob set up a watering system also and today I purchased the rest of items that were needed. You were right Gymgirl! It is not that hard to install but sure makes my work a lot easier and far less expensive than the EB system. I'm going to expand it tomorrow to take care of my roses also and all off the same line! Terrific. Actually it was the ease of the way you set it up that got me interested in it...Thanks...

Okay ... I'm watching and waiting for your input, Tplant. :-)

I'll be posting some of it today on my thread.

BocaBob...a couple of questions...but first, let me say WWWWOOOOOOWWWWW!

We are limited in what is available commercially here...and what is available can be pretty expensive. With that said, What 'grade' of Coir do you use? The 'powery' fine, the medium or the large?

Couldn't used fertilizer bags be used for grow bags?

We get tons of rain here (nearly 150" a year)...do you see any disadvantage to these bags growing out in the rain?

Is triple 10 the best fertilizer to use?

Any reason chicken manure (dried) isn't added to the coir mix?

Is there a reason not to use mixed, sifted potting soil?

How do you keep your soil from splashing out and going into your pool?

Your systems would be perfect for growing here...we have 3" of topsoil over 30' of lava!!!

If you are referring to Boca Bobs Coir a check or money order is all he can accept at this time. Place your order and he will get back to you with the total. That is how it works for now ?

Very nice hydroponics setup! I am always thrilled to find pictures of different food crops that can be grown in hydroponics because whenever I see some of them, I feel very inspired to grow crops other than the ones I have in my hydroponics garden.
