Im really jazzed about the carrots, I just didnt think I could do that. Have you done it before, and do you leave it pretty full of carrots, or how many do you get out of a box.

BocaBob: I'm coming to dinner in December, as I'll be in Ft Lauderdale, LOL Where do you get the grow bags from or do you make them? What about the laydown one? Also; why are the carrots uncovered in your EB? I need to know cause I'm planting them this next year myself. Those look like tomato trees not tomato plants> LOL Please keep me posted on the eggplant as it matures will ya? I jumped out there and planted 15 artichokes, 16 cauliflowers, 19 cabbages (variety), and 5 black beauty eggplants into extra large peat pellets today and put them in a labeled tray, covered them with saran wrap and put them on the grow light shelf, will wait till they start to pop up and then take off the saran and turn on the grow light.

joy112854 - You are welcome to dinner anytime!!!!! The grow bags come with the coconut coir compressed in them. I am becoming a distributor next week. I have them being shipped down here by the importer up north. Same with the lay flat coconut coir bags. the carrots are a experiment that should work fine. I'm top spray watering them, and will thin them out to about 3 inches apart soon. I'm growing them in coconut coir like everything else. It would be difficult to grow carrots in a EB covered Just think how many little holes you would need. I have never had such growth from tomatoes in my life. They are now almost 8 feet tall, with tomatoes all over them. OK on the eggplant.

Susan - Keep posted. Lots of info coming on the coconut coir. You are welcome anytime. When growing things like carrots, I don't see any reason why if you top feed with nutrients a open EB should produce just fine.

O wow, are those blocks from bio sponges. I swear by them for my daylily seedlings. Do you have them stuffed with coir and it doesnt fall thru when floating.

Boca Raton, FL(Zone 10a)

gardenglory- No, not form bio sponges. What you see is pretty big. The black block is a 5 gallon grow bag with compressed coconut coir in it ready to be re hydrated. The bag opens up(look below) The white block is 3 feet long with a sheet of coconut coir in it .When dehydrated it gets about 6 inches thick. The brown block is 5 kg of compressed coconut coir and when dehydrated will expand to 55 lbs (3 cubic feet) of usable growing mix. I will be selling all three in the marketplace on the web site real soon
