I got to spend the morning giving tours of WVU Greenhouse this morning. So I snapped some photos I thought you might enjoy.
Bonsai Trees
lusarytole, thanks for posting the interesting pictures.
I've tried bonsai for many years some successes and some losses.
Here is a picture of my more than 50 yr. old Jade tree, It is about 4 ft. tall, and the trunk is about 7" in diameter. Full of buds now and will stay nicely in bloom for about three months. It is probably too tall to be considered a true bonsai. Has to spend the winter in my small gh, and the summe in full sun on south side of garage.

Beautifully interesting branches, we'll just call it a big bonsai !!! lol I love to look at them at the greenhouse. they teach classes in the winter on bonsai, someday I may take a class. They are interesting...

You'd be surprised how large some bonsai trees are. Depending on the species. Brussel's Bonsai in Olive Branch, MS (actually Memphis, TN) does a great weekend set of classes on Memorial Day weekend. 3 days of classes, or you can just pay the registration fee and watch. They have demonstrations all weekend, and I learned SO much, just from watching. Also, they have a huge nursery, and you can walk through and shop or just daydream. Well worth the trip! Here's a picture of my Crabapple bonsai, covered in snow (the one with the thicker trunk).
I just went to the greenhouse last week and to my surprise the jade plant was blooming. Go take a look on my blog...
