I'm a lefty also, Pixie---crocheting was very hard to learn---now I'm taking knitting classes---the knitting is easy, the purl is messing me up---just putting it down to a lefty being taught as a righty. My brother is ambidexturous (sp?), but there are no other lefties in my family---we're supposed to be more artistic--also more accident prone!

I have not seen his work in person. Keep hoping one of our galleries will have an exhibit. I do have his book it has some detail plates of some of the paintings that are beautiful. DD has seen some of his work in person and fell in love to.
I did a watercolor of my Bleeding Hearts a couple of years ago using his color pallet but not his size. It went in the trash. LOL
DD paints large too but she paints in oil.

I just checked out Joseph Raffael's website. Amazing! Very beautiful stuff. I do my best work small. I've very detail oriented, too, in my work.

Picabo if you go to his website and click on the "exhibits" and go to "Davidson Gallery" you can see the show I saw.
Some of his pieces are over six feet. amazing.
Hos website also has a "studio" button that showes him working with an Artographto do the detailed drawing.
Your DD is lucky to have seen them in person I dont believe hehas very many showes and is mostly at the New York gallery.
We saw him because the curator of the Davidson is a friend of Hoffman's and begged her.
and Karen everyone works to their own vision.I was just amazed at the scale of his work, didnt think yhey made paper that big and am still trying to find out how hwy framed the pieces.

Such vibrant colors! Thanks for mentioning Joseph Raffael. I agree, it is definitely very beautiful stuff. They are huge!

I started to post a link to his web site, (One I Keep Book marked) I'll go back and look at the Davidson Gallery I am sure I have seen it. DDs BF cuts the frame molding for a lot of her large paintings, some of hers are 8'
and larger.

I know frame molding comes in infinate lengths and plexyglass comes in large sheets, but matboard is only 40x60 the largest sheet.
I couldn't enlarge his paintings enough to see if they were matted but now that I rememer he didn't matt. He taped the edges so there would be a white border and they framed the work right up to the paperedge.
I'll try to hyperlink his website.

there we go. Hope anybody else will enjoy also.
