MMMMcan you get your money back is my reaction! thats just WronG!!!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Fernman, I ordered my seeds through a coop here. I have not received them yet and ordered 3 packs! Now I am so sad!

This is the yellow Mg and where i ordered it from!

hmph. their talk of blending the vine on a trellis is in their seed package by mistake or on pupose?!?!!!! wierd posibility, but I wonder~!!!??
:D

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Wondering too? If Ido get yellow buds, then I'll share with you the following year!

ok when i went back to the website, there was no listing, unless I missed it for the mini smile(sky?) blue (?) which was the name they recomended growing the yellow WITH. There was a different one with a similar name but different flower color~NOT blue. I wonder if this is a fluke gentically or there are seeds for both colors in the package. I'd be on their tail on the phone. BUT I very well may have missed the blue they listed to grow with it. I'd call if I got blue though. lol I am a big complainer in that regard!
I will be interested in what happens~!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

If you click on the left side under morning glories you will see it. So nice you are looking after me, hee hee!

Mini sky blue was listed as a seperate seed then? Thats what everyone here at DavesGarden has been like to me, top notch; and this seed thing is odd. I just found yellow GMs listed at Onalees, and it was a plant i think maybe a seed...
:D

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

I have seen those seeds in other sites too!

I have never seen (even on above site lol) that blue MG they list as a good match (mini sky blue) for the yellow ones. Maybe somebody else will have feedback or input I ah, am puzzled...

Ipomoea hederifolia var. lutea is a small bloom. It can not be crossed with other cultivars. Here is the information about it in PlantFiles: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/104810/

Some seed companies seem to throw anything into their packets. Perhaps that is the case with Summer Hill Seed Company. Here is more information obout the Mini Sky Blue MGs:

http://www.thompson-morgan.com/seeds1/product/1710/1.html
http://www.backyardgardener.com/seeds/product08/1710.html

I know I bought some Flying Saucer MG seeds from American Seed Company and instead got Blue Star seeds/vines ...

becky's right some seed companies don't have their seeds correctly identified...
i only got 50% of the species seeds i ordered correctly identified.... thats really really poor... and for the most part dissapointing... though i've had a couple of nice surprises i suppose :-)

i have a packet of hederifolia var lutea seeds from summerhill (freebies i must say)

in the pic
top= mini sky blue
bottom= hederifolia/ "lutea"/ "aurantia" ....

edited to make some sense...lol

okay this place makin me crazy...i typed mini sky blue in their search box and got the yellow morning glory page...again, I surrender dorothy....lol
Bet they put both in the same packet. If I lived in California, I'd sue.~! LOL

sorry forgot to add~ at least it DOES exist, somewhere :) thanks Becky!!
....that seed company is trippin' though....looks like they are trying to creat the flag for Sweden, blue and yellow...cross. :-)
;D

I think Summerhill seeds is just making the comparison of how nice the two colors would look together. I don't believe they are selling mini sky blue seeds along with the yellow ones.

I have both the mini blue ones from my garden and some yellow from a trade (haven't grown them out) if someone needs a few.

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

The 'mini-sky blue' was T&M's marketing name for what after many years of growouts has turned out to be
Ipomoea hederacea
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/9563/

T&M has it listed as Ipomoea 'hirsuta'
http://www.thompson-morgan.com/seeds1/product/1710/1.html
which does not exist as a legitimate current epithet and it took me several years to get this corrected in the PlantFiles...

I would like to recommend that people refrain from using 'mini sky blue'...because it causes people to look at the T&M listing thus resurrecting the illegitimate epithet of 'hirsuta'...and then someone else can spend a few years arguing the case with the staff to get it corrected...

Thanks,

Ron

thank you Ron, for settling the ''mystery of the blue that was not'' and 10-one odds, the wrong seeds got in Makshis' package ~ but hopefuly not Clemens'...

Ok, everyone . . .

PLEASE Give Summerhill Seeds a break.
I will tell you that she is a reputable company and if she made any mistakes I'm certain she will make it right. I know her very well is why I am saying this - and she is a super nice lady.

I also have oodles of the Yellow Ipomoea hederifolia var. lutea.

If anyone wants seeds, let me know.
In fact, I will be sending these seeds as a favor to my friend at Summerhill Seeds.
D-Mail me your name and address

Hello Fellow Gardeners,
I was notified of this thread by a friend and I thought I might respond to some of the comments here.
First and foremost please know that all of our seeds are guaranteed to grow and to be true to their description. I am happy to replace the seeds that makshi purchased from us with a fresh pack of yellow morning glories that were harvested just weeks ago. Please send your mailing address to robin@summerhillseeds.com and I will send your replacement to you right away.
I do not sell any seeds mixed with other varieties or cultivars unless the description expressly states ‘mix’. The description of the yellow morning glory suggested growing them with the mini sky blue which we no longer carry. Those were large seeds which would be difficult to mistake for the small seeds of the yellow morning glory. The listing of the yellow morning glories has been amended to suggest growing them with the Tie Dye Pink morning glory. I mix vines in my own garden to add color and interest and to make use of limited space and on a few occasions I recommend this method to my customers.
I hope this helps to clear up any confusion with our listing of the yellow morning glory.
