Anyone Use Paper Pots for WS?

Danville, IN(Zone 5b)

In theory the paper pots sound great ... lots of advantages, but are they practical, especially for WS? My concern is that being in use for such a long period of time would deteriorate the paper, especially on the bottom and they would become useless. Anyone have any experience with them for WS?

Thanks.

Some folks have used them successfully. I had terrible results with them. They dry out way to fast.

I have tried them - they either dry out or rot. I don't think you should bother with paper pots.

Thanks for the input and advice. I was afraid they were too good to be true. Guess I'll go to 'Plan B.'

I like the idea of the "cow pots" and may give them a try next season.

Cow pots aren't good for things that are in GH like conditions-just FYI-get moldy-I have had great success with them otherwise-just doing bottom watering-I usually break the pots a bit when planting them so the roots can spread:)

I've wondered about the cow pots as well ... I never had any success using the Jiffy pots and wondered if the same would be true of the cow pots. Like Fairy1004 said, I've had issues with mold as well on the Jiffy pots and they certainly don't break-down during one growing season. I'm still working on 'Plan B.'

Thanks for all your input.

Cow pots do break down faster and are better for your soil. I have had success with them except in GH-if I just have them on my kitchen tabel sitting in a tray and bottom water then they are fine:)

I think there were a few who used the cow pots for winter sowing.

I had mold on my Jiffy... but those were also seeds sown indoors... and i did not do many, as i dont have a lot of room.

I will use them still, since i have them in stock... but once they are gone.. i need to move on to something else.

when i used Jiffy for some WS stuff .. i did not get mold.

Is there an area on this website explaining commonly used jargon?

Thanks
