Halloween "eyeball" candy.

(Zone 7a)

Halloween is fast approaching and fun is in the air. It's cooler out and the decorations are coming out of their summer hibernation.

Have something fun to share this year? Have a neighbor that goes all out? Is your yard simple or are YOU the one yard that the cars slow down and have a good long look? What about the inside?

Mine is simple until the "The Day", then I crank the volume and put it all out.

SHRIEEEEEEEEEEK!!! Very scarey white stuff on the ground!!!!! (^_^)

(Zone 7a)

I know! The neighbors run screaming every year when they see it! LOL

Myrtle Beach, SC(Zone 8b)

I thought you were going to show us how to make candy eyeballs !!!

(Zone 7a)

Uh oh! No, sorry, I wish I knew how to do that. It would be fun, too. Anybody out there know how to do that?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I can't believe it's already snowed there, good grief. We're 80 degrees today and supposed to be 65 tomorrow. Crazyness!

I don't know how to make anything, except chocolate chip cookies!!!!

(Zone 7a)

Hey, Crissy! What do you do for Halloween?

The snow is gone and we should be to the low 70s by the weekend.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Lots of 'eyeball' receipes here http://www.razzledazzlerecipes.com/halloween/trick_or_treat_candy.htm

(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Dahlia! Those look really yummy!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I think I would erp from the looks alone if I ate them ^_^

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

LOL Me too! But I love the banner at the top of the candy site 'how I lost 35 pounds"!

Seminole, OK(Zone 7a)

Where I work we have candy severed fingers and all kinds of body parts with blood dripping. I haven't tried to eat any of them. LOL Last year we had body parts that were slimy feeling, they were party gift things and if you threw them at a wall they would stick then slowly slide off. Anyway a couple of us got to throwing them at each other. I know, I know, we are supposed to be adults. LOL The other day we were moving some freight around at the top of the steel and lo and behold there was an eyeball looking at us. It had been stuck there since this time last year. LOL We left it up there.

I have two "snow globes" except they are for Halloween. One has bats flying around instead of snow and they fly around a vampire. The other one has three scenes: a ghost, zombie, and witch in the middle and this rotates. They are both 6 foot tall. I got them last year when they were clearanced to $10 from $100. I couldn't resist for that price.

Well, we don't do much for Halloween. In CA I lived in a neighborhood that had some kids, but now we're out in the sticks with no kids, pretty much the only people who drive down the road are people who live up there, it's a dead in road out in the sticks, and there is about an acre to two acres between the houses with hardly any street lights, so it's not good for walking at night. We used to dress up and go out barhopping, that was always fun. A few years ago we dressed up as hippies and went out, everyone gave us the peace sign, it was hilarious! I wonder if I can find the pictures from that. We don't dress up here at work so it's kinda ppthhhhh on it. Depends upon what day of the week it falls on I guess, and now it depends upon if he has to work or not. This year it's on Friday so that's a major hit and miss, everyone with kids is going to want the night off, of course that doesn't mean I can't dress up and go out lol! I still have the hippie costumes.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Amber we cross posted lol!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh how fun! You guys get down and party!! Right On!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I might make something on that list...

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

As a health conscious person I'm thinking fudge which will satisfy my nutritional needs from the chocolate food group.

Seminole, OK(Zone 7a)

I asked the other day if we were going to get to dress up at work and mgnt. said they would think about it but every year some customer complains that they are offended. I work in the public nobody at my job has ever dressed up in anything that would offend anyone except a cranky, no fun person. LOL

I also live in the country down a dirt road. I just decorate to please myself. My DH and I were talking today how we have rarely lived in a place where we could give out candy to trick or treaters. The only time we lived in a town, in the beginning we were so short of money we couldn't afford to then when we could one year (we had lots of fun) we run out of candy several hours before trick or treaters. We moved before the next Halloween. Ever since then we have lived in the country.

I started a thread on the Holiday forum about Halloween and someone posted about making tombstones out of cereal boxes, etc. and paint that sprays on to look like stone. I think I will try that. LOL Even if it rains that will give it a more spooky look. "The graveyard everybody forgot" LOL

I think I have a tie-dyed t-shirt maybe I could just wear that to work for a costume.

Myrtle Beach, SC(Zone 8b)

Thanks for the recipes. I was actually just teasing.lol Should have known someone here would know how to make eyeballs!!

(Zone 7a)

I knew someone would know, as well. They look pretty good.

Amber, your office sounds fun. My costume this year is zombie make-up and a t-shirt that says..."I ♥ BRAINS"

Who gets lots of the trick or treaters? Sometimes we get lots and other years hardly any.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Mostly seniors and DINKS in my neighbourhood so very few kidlings sigh. However, well I don't know if I'm allowed to share this info (it might be 'if I tell you I have to kill you' thing) but last year the Sugar Plum Fairy came to visit on Halloween night. It was pretty special as my summer fairys (a pain in the butt BTW) are gone now and the winter fairies don't show up til late November so it was very cool.

back in the day when I had an actual real life grown up job...at a fitness center when I was much younger, much skinnier and no grey hair...I went as Peg Bundy.....then I took my DGKs trick or treating.. I did such a good job w/ clothes, hair(it was red at the time)and make-up that when folks opened their doors I was greated as "PEG!" Last year,I met my DD new boyfriend for the first time at our Halloween party dressed as a devil...LOL

Never thought of ceral boxes as tombstone.

Tombstones on mantel are old kitchen cabinet doors I swiped off a neighbor's burn pile. One sitting on the floor next to the desk facing door is just a cardboard insert from a furniture packing crate I spray painted.

Very spooky bigred. I luv the skull candelobra.

(Zone 7a)

How fun is that! Thanks for sharing.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

That is really neat, I might just get out some decorations, ya'll are getting me motivated. The garden comes first though, I hope all that rain last night didn't waterlog my new plants from the RU that are sitting in pots and cups out in it.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

My friend that was moving gave that and a lot of other decorations so she wouldn't have to deal with them in the move.

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

I made the Black Cat Fudge. They're really cute. I like fudge to stay more solid, not hard. These get sticky and gooey after a few minutes so you have to eat them fast. Not that the guys mind at all LOL!

LOL, i am suprised you got a picture.

Bigred, Loved the story of your being Peg!

My MIL dressed as the Carol Burnette cleaning women. She won first place...

Oh i like your spooky kitchen, great idea with the cabinets and ceral box tombstones.

(Zone 7a)

At our store, we get boxes with leather coats in them that are coffin shaped. So fun to make. I haven't got any right now to show. They're too big to store every year. When we get more, I'll post a pic.

Seminole, OK(Zone 7a)

Kwanjin its funny you mention those kinds of boxes. We used to get something in a box shaped like that, I can't remember what, anyway one of my coworkers was an older guy that loved to play tricks. Last Halloween season he wore a long gray wig nearly every day. He would hide in the box with the top down to look like the box hadn't been opened and make animal noises. When anybody would go over to look he would pop up. Talk about give a person heart papitations. After he got nearly everybody we tore his box up. LOL

We also find rubber snakes all over the dept. I keep telling them it could cause a real heart attack nobody listens. LOL Last year one of the guys brought an ice chest to work and invited people to see the big fish he caught. Now my brain was thinking how is he keeping this fish alive and so forth. When you opened it a fake cobra snake came out. He had tied it somehow to make it raise up when you opened the lid just like they do when threatened. Of course I yelled but I slammed shut the ice chest at the same time.

(Zone 7a)

Eeek! I would have screamed, too! What a starange person that man is. ☺
