End of season report card

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I like the idea of celebrating the Solstice with an afternoon tea ... or an afternoon chocolate party! Think I'll mark my calendar for that.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Two women alternate years hosting the tea.
One is in charge of sweets and the other does savories, the invite list is friends of both who get to meet new people. Its a great idea.

After the winter solstice the days get longer, that is a reason for a party I agree. Chocolate is a vitamin isn't it, so you need some every day. It goes so well with other required foods too. Very versatile food that can be prepared in oh so many lovely ways. You should not wait for a celebration to have the daily requirement.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice idea. One for the summer solstice too??

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I agree, Victor. We should also have one for the Summer Solstice. I think most people hold Garden parties of one sort or another.

Jo Ann. We'll over you some chocolate that's OK for you. I've had a lot, and it's not too bad ... almost like the real thing!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I know what kind you mean
did you read the small print where it says over consumption will have a diarretic effect?
I conducted my own experiment to see what my tollerance was. Had to stop short of satiety.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Nope. Didn't read the fine print, but then, a little chocolate goes a long way for me. I guess I'm just lucky.

South Hamilton, MA

I find the "d" effect useful, beats drug store stuff. The sugar free stuff isn't as bad as it used to be. Medical forum now?

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Are you serious about the Raisinets, JoAnn? If so, then I don't have anything to worry about. I told someone today I had to start laying off the Raisinets, cause I've gained so much weight.

Candyce and JoAnn, I like that solstice celebration idea myself. I will have to get some friends together and celebrate that.

I have tried that sugar free chocolate, and though it tastes good, it does a number on my digestive system. It has sorbitol as a sweetener, and some people can't handle it.

We are planing a great solstice celebration on the RM forum with celebratory outfits and refreshing beverages like 'Corpse Revivor No. 2'. I'm already practicing my dancing. I will share pics on the special day ^_^

Where my sister lives in Alaska, in a town called Central, near Fairbanks, they celebrate summer solstice at a place called Eagle Summit. Very pretty up there, and bare of trees. Many alpine wildflowers grow there. Where she lives the sun just dips below the horizon at midnight and comes right back up. She has taken many lovely pictures up there during solstice. I have been there myself during solstice, but we didn't go to Eagle Summit. I don't remember why. I don't know if they do anything for winter solstice. She will be here during that time, and maybe I can get her to celebrate with my friends.

Karen - - I can help your conscience overcome any treat you might give pause about.
Glad to hear about your solstice gathering , they shouldn't be exclusive ,Invite close friends and some not so close and see how everyone enjoys themselves.
Dahlia - - What is the RM forum? your party sounds great.
