I only spent about $25. There were 5 sales tables . . . well, 6 - if you include the raffle table, which is the one they try to get you to join the club.

I like the red on your Franken Copper Knob . . .

Hi All,
Have not been on as I have not been feeling to great but feel much better now... I have not read the forums yet and will try later but may be tomorrow so I will just say everyones pictures are great ^_^ I have not taken any pictures either lately and will try tomorrow as someone asked me awhile back about Alissa being really yellow.. Well the first blooms were kinda yellow/creamy... It now has a new set and it is really yellow this time... I was very happy... My plant have been neglected I am sorry to say but I am catching up... One day I went to water the trays and found out after I poured water into two trays that my MIL put a bottle that I had sitting on the side of the sink with my other water and it was water and bleach... I almost cried... I hurried up and washed and rinsed the trays and so far I don't see any damage... I surely hope not....
I also got plants last week from Brenda, Thank you very much for my baby pets, I love them... so tiny and cute... I also got Av and leaves from MrsBonnie.. so tiny and cute... I am liking av's better and better... Starting to get a few variegated ones.... Like I said I will try and get pictures tomorrow.. If I forgot someone who sent me something I am
sorry and I am trying to get better with writing down who sent me what... I also got a few Sinns, tiny av awhile back from Jan,Roxanne,or Nic and they are doing very well... One of the AV's are blooming now...
Ok will be back later and I can't say how much I missed you all...
Hugs,
Susan

Hi Susan,Hope you continue to feel better.Looking forward to your pictures.I don't think the bleach will hurt your plants.Every plant or cutting that comes to my house gets a dip in bleach water before going into isolation and I have let some of the water run though the soil.I've been doing it for years and haven't lost a plant from it yet.

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

Jan, how do you mix the bleach solution?

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I have just started drenching every new plant with Admire Pro but would love to do it with only Clorox.........and save money.

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Mornin ladies,

I use a teaspoon and a half of bleach and fill a square dishpan with warm water.

Warning!!!!!! Please only try it on one plant if your thinking of doing this.Just because it works for me doesn't mean it will work for all.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks for the hint.....................

Hi all!

As much as I'd love to, I don't have time to read all the posts and catch up, but it's been so long since I've been on DG, I didn't want y'all to think I fell off the face of the earth! LOL I've been sick, had a sick child, been extremely busy with a couple projects I think I volunteered for (but might have actually been volunteered by my husband for one! LOL). Just wanted y'all to know I'm around and I love and miss ya! I'll try to get a few minutes in the next day or so to get on and chat a bit.

Hugs to everyone!

WE miss you, Rain! Come back more often!

HI everyone-- I am not sure which thread we were talking about synthetic (polyester) felt on--so I will post this here--I found it today at my walmart SS (surprised they had it!) 56" wide( I think) -- for $3.69 a yard.

Hi Amy,Hope you are feeling better!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Do you think the bleach solution would kill any pests on a plant?

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I think they are talking about a fungicide which would be used for mealy bugs............maybe someone will answer............

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Good morning Gail ^_^ I have read it is useful for root rot, but bleach is also considered an insecticide. However, I can't find any instructions anywhere for that use. I would be very careful and test it on something(that you don't mind killing) first. Just remember --that slimy feeling you get if you get it on your hands--is the bleach turning the fat in your skin into soap. We are talking harsh chemical here.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I use clorox every day cleaning all my trays, etc. and my hands look horrible. If someone finds information on clorox being an insecticide, please let us know.

(Zone 1)

hmmm ... I have heard of using chlorine bleach as a disinfectant but never as a pesticide. I'm sure it would kill any pests but possibly the plant too! Maybe in a very, very mild water/chlorine solution it would sterilize the soil but I'd be afraid to try it myself. If it damages and kills the roots, the remainder of the plant is sure to follow.

I am very interested to hear if anyone actually uses chlorine as a pesticide and the results they've had.

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Here is the link that says it is also a pesticide--but unfortunately no other info.
http://www.epa.gov/kidshometour/products/bleach.htm

(Zone 1)

I guess it could be used as a pesticide for houseplants, but I wonder how much you would mix with water for dilution? I know I will never try it though ... too afraid I'd end up with either totally dead plants, or plants growing white foliage. ^_^ 7

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Someone recently posted that they dip all new plants in a dilute solution--I will cruise thru the threads and see if I can find it. If somene else remembers where it was plmk-- I hate this sporadic ditziness!! That comes with the natual progression from blond to white I s'pose

(Zone 1)

LOL, Gran ... I am not so sure what color my hair would be if I let it grow out to it's natural state! I live in a state of ditziness anymore! ^_^

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

It was Jannich that said she dipped each new plant into a bleach/water solution, prior to putting plants into isolation . . . http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=5690440

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Thank you!!! I wrote it down this time!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

It is a few posts under that where she says:

Quoting:
I use a teaspoon and a half of bleach and fill a square dishpan with warm water.

Warning!!!!!! Please only try it on one plant if your thinking of doing this.Just because it works for me doesn't mean it will work for all.
