Anybody get this yet? It was suppose to be published in Sept.08 I think. Are they always a year behind? Strange.
2007 NALS Yearbook
I admit to not understanding this yearbook stuff. I've been in NALS two years and I have never gotten any yearbook. And try as I may, I can't even figure out what is supposed to be in it. Having never received anything, I guess I just don't quite get it.
Anybody want to help me out with this?
Magnolia, if you have been a member for 2 years then it sounds like they owe you 2006 (you should have received in late 2007) and 2007, due out anytime. It is a hardbound book with articles both scientific and general. You should have received the Quarterly Bulletins, 4 per year. The next one is due out in December. I will dmail the contact information.
Intercessor, I have been a member since 2000, so received my first yearbook in 2001 for 2000). Seems like they usually get it out in the fall. It went to the printer in September. Don't know how long it takes after that.
Our IRLS crew just went thru our historic library. We have NALS year books going back 50 years! And the old newsletters? Some great ideas from the early growers...
Any news? I just e-mailed David Sims.
Hello Andrew,
The proofs for the Yearbook have been approved, so it should be in the mail soon.

Anybody get the book?
Not me. I wonder when we will get the 2008 volume...
I dug this up on Yahoo regarding 2007. It appears they should have been mailed a week ago. A bit ridiculous that it is in 2009. If it is hard to find stuff to write about maybe they should lower the subscription and send a book out every other year...
"Hello,
We were just notified by the printer that they will be mailing them
on Monday.
David
Jan 9, 2009"
I don't think the printer ships them directly to the members. I think they ship bulk to whoever is responsible for packing, addressing and then shipping out to the members.
There have been a few times in the past where they combined years. For example 1995/1996.
I wish it would show up. I need some nice reading material ;)
Arrival!
Mailed from Minnesota.

No arrival here yet? Do tell. How is it?
I bet it is green.... (using my paranormal powers here)...
Now Andy is reading it and we won't hear from him for a couple weeks. No fair! Lol ;)
pard, aren't those powers you have superlilytive.
I can hardly wait to read it. Hope mine comes tomorrow. Thanks for sharing.
Well intercessor it looks like there is at least some stuff in there to interest you, especially the ploidy stuff. I usually skim over flower show reports. I bet The Great Lily Chase refers to the wild lily hunt in southern OR and northern CA. I seriously thought about going on that but didn't. Well I can't wait to get mine!
mags, your play with words is unmatched!
LOL Undoubtedly!
Thanks Tracie (he says matter-of-factly with a wink,
but with equal admiration).
I received mine on Tuesday, the 20th.
Donna
You suppose they forgot about me? I was hoping to see it today. You suppose the mailman is reading it for a couple days? I know he likes my peonies, but maybe I have sold him on lilies too.
Mags you can have mine if yours doesn't show up. I opened mine up tonight and thought I had bought something that I didn't remember, again....
You're too nice Ticker. I'm still holding out for the mailman theory for now.
I finally got my very first NALS Yearbook....today. The mail guy must have read it before me.
Did you ask him if his wife is reading mine?
Now at least I don't feel so alone. Joan, you haven't gotten yours either? If I got mine, I do have hope for yours. Seriously though, when it comes to Pacific Northwest Lily Society lily sales and NALS, I always get mine last (bring on the violins, I know).
The mailman's wife likes plants too, so you never know. Maybe instead of cash for Christmas, I'll just get them a membership next year ^_^ Maybe our stuff will arrive on time then. Lol.
No, I don't have mine yet either. Mail hasn't come yet today, so there's still hope. :)
I used to be that last to get the listing for the North American Rock Garden Exchange, too. There were even non-donors that received their list, ordered and got their order back before I even got my list.
That finally changed when I became a donor, and now the listing is online, too.
I still don't have one. I've about come to the conclusion that since I didn't join until this year, that I'm not going to get the 2007 yearbook. I could have walked here from Minnesota in this amount of time. I guess I'll have to purchase it off the bookshelf like I did all the past years. I'm not pleased though.
Joan, if you just joined in 2009, then 2009 is the first yearbook you will receive. Since it will cover 2009 you will receive it in 2010. You should receive your quarterly bulletins for 2009 though.
Like you, I purchased a number of yearbooks for those years that I wasn't a member. I have found them to be interesting and useful since I like to hybridize.
No, I joined in 2008. So I'm obviously not going to get the 2007 yearbook, and in order to get the 2008 yearbook, since they are published a couple years later than the year of the book, I will have to remain a subscriber until 2010? It would be cheaper to wait until it's available for $5.
No, you should receive the 2008 book later this year then. Unfortunately they were very late getting the 2007 book out, giving a bad impression in my opinion. People who were members in 2007 should have received that volume 4 or 5 months ago.
