CLOSED: Is this a lubber?
This does appear to be an eastern lubber grasshopper, Romalea guttata; Orthoptera: Romaleidae. See http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/LyraEDISServlet?command=getScreenImage&oid=7398290 for an image.
Thanks, I thought so but I had never seen one in person before. This one was obviously the grandaddy of lubbers. LOL
