My coop and my girls

Did you use that shower board like we were talking about in another thread? It looks like the stuff I chose to use in my coop. I think its going to be very easy to wipe down, when necessary.

teresa when were your hens born? asking cause I'm still waiting for mine to lay.... I figured sometime around halloween. I ws told mine were born 7/15 , but I think they were older than that and the feed store didnt really know.

I think it's 24 weeks (i.e. 6 months) roughly. I have some born (well, hatched) mid July and they are not laying yet. I am guessing mid-December, or maybe later because it will be winter and short day length.

Lazy - I'm not sure what my husband used in the coop, I will ask. The floor isn't as easy as I'd like because it is textured.....but I guess it's better than the girls slipping around.

I think my girls were hatched in early June. We got them shortly after school got out (June 18) and they were supposedly a week old. ?? We'll see.

I did have a dream last night however, that my bald girl laid her first egg. I woke this morning only to be disappointed :) oh well.

The golf balls look mighty inviting - and no poop today, so I'm thrilled!!!!

Mine were hatched May 2 and only one is laying so far. A New Hampshire hen. btw today she laid her egg in new spot! Hurray! I didn't have to bend way down to get her egg cause she picked a nest that is eye level with me :-) Hope she keeps using it and others join her!

1AnjL it's hard to say cause I've noticed that different breeds seem to do different things. Shorter winter days has an effect too.

well, I'll just keep peeking :) teehee!

That's what I do.....maybe you'll start dreaming of eggs too, like I have been....it's very weird :)

It's funny but with only one hen laying plus the ducks and geese we now have enough eggs for the two of us. If the other hens begin to lay we just may have enough to sell a few dz each week or so.

Mine were hatched mid to late may from what I can tell and only the mid-may hatch is laying.

lol, I have 3 doz store bought eggs in the fridge now...been trying to eat as many as possible to get rid of them...in hopes that when they are gone my girls will start laying! LOL! maybe a tad bit superstitious!? teehee

I can't believe I waited and waited and begged and begged her to lay and now I have four of her beautiful eggs sitting in my fridge and I've done NOTHING with any of them. I'm afraid she's going to begin to think I'm ungrateful... ;-)

Lazy - just keep her out of the fridge and she won't know!! :)

LL don't let her read this thread! LOL
