Hi
I'm up here in N. CA SF east bay to be exact zone 9. Has anyone tried a dogwood tree. I saw one at a nursery and really want to try this beautiful tree. (Reminds me of my childhood in Arkansas.)
I wonder how they do here. It was pricey so thought I'd ask what you guys thought.
Thanks
Linda
Dogwood tree
I don't see too many dogwoods around here, but I'm not sure if that's because they don't do well or because people just don't plant them much. If you've got a copy of the Sunset Western Garden book look dogwoods up in there and see if they have any that are listed for your Sunset zone (you're probably in Sunset zone 14 but it wouldn't hurt to doublecheck that). I've never gone wrong with anything they said should do well in my zone.
Hi,just saw this post. I dont have dogwoods planted down here in Fremont, but we have many at our cabin in the sierras :o) the heat there is about the same as it is here, only difference there is we do get snow. hope this helps some :o)
