CLOSED: What the....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 6b)

I know it's not an insect or a spider, but this was the best place I could think of to post this thing. Found it sitting on a rose leaf this morning.

Here's a side view, which is rather blurry. Seems to be attached to the leaf with a little suction cup type of foot.

Maybe a Hag Moth larva?

Don't touch them, they sting!

That looks like it's probably it. Didn't they have giant forms of these appearing in 1950's B horror movies? It's an ugly little critter, but apparently relatively harmless, so I believe I'll let it live! :=) Unfortunately, the warning not to touch was too late. I was touching and checking it out to see if it was flora or fauna. Decided it was fauna, and now I know what it is!

What an ugly looking insect. Gave me the heebie jeebies, yikes!

At first sight I thought that it was a piece of a dead leaf off of something. Then I looked closer, and figured out it was some kind of critter. It has eaten a little of the leaf that it is sitting on, but has done no real damage, so I'll just leave it alone. Ugly little sucker, though.
