Hickory Nut Husks for Mulch?

Sallisaw, OK

Been picking up hundreds of Hickory Nuts - husking them and thought perhaps I could use those husks for garden mulch. One place I saw said OK, but then another place said No because they contain 'tannic acid' and not sure if that is true and if so what does that do to my gardens over time IF I use this as mulch.

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Should be OK, once they're composted a bit.

The nut shells won't be so good though, as they stay hard for years.
