Hello Everybody it's been a while since i posted but finally am getting time to work with my plants and garden again.
Here's my Monstera Cebu Blue that's been growing indoors for a couple of years now. When i moved it I discovered that it had been growing a very very long vine.
Monstera Cebu Blue
I managed to get one of the pieces of the broken vine to root..... It had a leaf and leaf nodes under water where the root formed.
My question
Does a piece of vine require a leaf and/or nodes under water in order to root and grow. I want to make the most of the vine to propagate and there aren't that many leaves on the vine.
Cheers
Neil

It does not have to have a leaf not even a root to grow. That is if the piece has enough energy to produce them. I would suggest changing the water regularly and with a root it should grow into a new plant. If this does not work well. I have used a high humidity chamber to grow small cutting. This is basically putting the plant in a highly humid area such as a clear plastic bag with damp moss or a dome cover on a tray.
This plant will produce much more interesting leaves in a brighter area and if allowed to climb it will prouduce a more monstera type leaf. Your plant is known as Epipremnum pinnatum blue Cebu blue. On a mature plant the leaves can get 2 to almost 3 feet long and has either holes or divisions in the leaves. In a low light low humid place the plant will streach and crawl for a better area to climb. This is what it looks like your plant is trying to do.
Thanks Brian, i'm going to start a little Cebu nursery LOL. Hopefully I'll have some to start trading again. Cheers.

Good luck it is a fast easy grower. I thing the more mature foliage is much more attractive. A good trick is to grow one large then remove the top with the mature leaves and replant it in a new pot with a totem. It does not revert back to juvinal but will keep the mature leaves. This is the way Kew Gardens was getting philodendrons and monsteras to bloom with out having to grow them 20 feet up a tree.
Cheers Brian
I'm going to give it a go. I think i may have got this one from you during an ebay frenzy.......
