CLOSED: Tiny little guy on my tomato vines

somewhere, PA

This is a serious blow up - he's sitting on a finger tip here.
We see them around our tomato vines - DH thinks they are
eating the tomatos. What is it?

This appears to be a fungus gnat (Diptera: Mycetophilidae) - see http://nognats.net/images/gnat006_4caa.jpg for an image. The adults are harmless, but the larvae can damage tender plant roots - see http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/2000/2114.html for a fact sheet.

Most fungus gnats are outdoor species.
