Hey Gordon, time for a update, you busy guy. LOL
We are waiting?????
what a fine group of plant traders!!!!! I'm really sorry I missed it. BOO! HOO! I hope to make the next one. Hosta Jim
Hey, Jim so wish you could of made it, I had it all figured out too, O'well
maybe next time.
I think that Dinosaur plant ate him or the new GH did LOL
And everyone else Too, O'MY
I've been busy painting (inside walls) and then trying to put everything back together, plus take care of some frustrating paperwork that has to do with Steve's death and monstrous medical bills (his supplemental insurance turned one down - $750 - saying they could find no record of him every having coverage . . . someone missed the fact that they probably have paid over $100,000.
And today it is raining - I did get outside and fill some of the bird feeders. And I spent time with the neighbor's cat that I'm watching (I go to their house twice a day to feed her and give her love and attention - they are gone for a total of 17 days . . . today is day nine).
Funny how busy we can get when we don't think we have enough to do!!!
Hi Carol, can't wait to see the new pics of the painting, Love the others.
Hope DD didn't use the ladder. LOL
It's funny how talkative we can be then so silent, course this time of year so much to do to get ready for the winter.
It's really windy here, no rain tho thank goodness. Took down all the wind chimes and other things that just might get blown away or damage.
We had are first frost 2 days ago. so have been moving all the potted plants closer to the GH, for a quick move into it when I need to. And the tender ones already in side.
Wonder what this winter will be like with the slow start we had this year.
I know about Ins. they I think are really dumb at times, When through that when my DH was in that car wreck in 03. Can't believe what it cost for a chopper ride to Harbor View, had a fight with Ins. We ended up having to file Bankruptcy after the whole thing. But some good samaritan, still to this day I have no clue who, paid for Buddy.
HUGS
Here's a picture of me sitting on my pantry which is taller than my refrigerator. I wish the new color showed up better . . . it makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Today I am just sitting in front of my wood burning stove reading. It does get a bit warm, but sure feels nice.
See the white on the pantry doors? That was contact paper and DD and I removed it all - the wood is really pretty, no idea why the previous owners covered it up like that.
The cookie jar in the photo was a wedding gift to my parents . . . so almost 68 years old. I wasn't as dangerously close to it as it looks there.
That is a warmly color.
I know the paint thing. I live in a mobile no high places here. I did the ceilings 2 years ago, they had that compressed cardboardy stuff don't know what they call it. I painted it with a semi gloss, it sucked it up like a sponge took 3 coats before it look right to me. Made such a diff. brighten up the house, now I can clean it. I just to love to paint.
But this place is mostly dark paneling. So I got real good with using wallpaper.
Did a chair rail down the hallway and tru to the living room, so brighten it up this place was so gloomy.
Wonderfully done, Mary!! Many years ago, my first DH and I had done a lot of paneling (very dark, of course) and eventually the darkness got to me. So I filled the grooves - took forever - and painted . . . it turned out really good and even that DH, who insisted he liked everything dark, had to admit it brightened up not only the house, but our lives. Well, for awhile anyway.
Wallpapering and I don't get along - I only did it once and had to get help!!!
That is the only thing I hate about my home, no take that back. I have 2 issues to dark and not enough windows. But I can't gripe got it for a steal back in 94. better than what I did have. I can't but anything bigger on this site, unless I build a 2story, NOT.... The way my land is a double wide is iffy. So I do what I can. Have ideas to expand this just need to be secret so the county don't see LOL
I love to re-do things that are out of date, or that I'm just plain tired of. Paint if frequently the answer. It makes everything look so new again. Next time you go to paint something like that ceiling, Tills, use a primer/sealer first. Then it won't soak up your paint on you.
I love wall paper and in our last house I had wallpaper in about half of the house. I got a great deal on the perfect paper at, of all places, Goodwill!! They happened to have the perfect wallpaper for the living room and they had it for the huge, huge price of 1$ per roll!! I felt like I was practically stealing it. They had 14 rolls. I bought it all. I don't need that many in the living room, but you never know.
This is the "dining area" wall - the color is "blanket brown." Considering I've never had anything but white in the last many places I've lived, you can imagine how exciting it was for me to do this dark color!!
(The dining area, kitchen, and the corner with the wood burning stove are all one big room.)
That's a gorgeous stove! Just looking at the picture makes me feel a bit warmer on this chilly evening.
Oh, Carole, that looks so warm and inviting. And your wood stove is indeed very picturesque.
Thanks Pix's wish I knew you back then, but lesson learned still have the bedrooms to do.
Carol, that is just magnificent, love it. I like the first tea pot pic makes the shadow look cool. I would enter it in the phpto contest.
That wood stove is to love no dought, mine has a glass front, but it turns black as soon as you biuld a fire in it.
I love the colors! That brown is warm and soft. Having grown up in the military where we were never allowed to do so much as hang a picture with a nail, I revel in colors of all kinds. I think that's why I am always changing things around. I was never allowed to do anything like that as a child.
I'm in the process of changing the furniture around, too. Because Steve was an avid TV watcher, the furniture had to be arranged a certain way. This never bothered me in the least, but now that it is just me living here, I am placing things in a way that feels cozier, more inviting. I rarely watch TV and hope to replace the humongous television with an electric fireplace (Home Depot has one that I really fell in love with). I'll still want a TV, but would like a flat panel on a wall (that has doors to cover the darn thing up!).
Thanks for the nice words on the colors and on my stove - I've loved that stove since we first bought the house and the new color just suits it to a tee.
Melissa, both of my husbands preferred white walls so I know what you mean about reveling in color - I can't believe how much I am enjoying the changes!
Tills, I don't think that photo is good enough for the contest, but thanks for the compliment. I do like shadows, etc. Wish I knew how to do night photography - the moon is gorgeous tonight, as it was last night.
Think I'll go turn on the electric blanket and snuggle in for the night - it's early but that just sounds delicious!!!
Carole - I insist (and I'm sure Mary does, too) that you enter the photo anyway. Many artists are self-critical and are surprised at how well their work is received. It can't hurt and people will love having yours in the group they scroll through, if nothing else.
I'll have to really look at the photo - I loved the concept, but wasn't overly pleased with the results.
You're all very sweet!
Carol, I will make a stand on this, and Stomping foot. And Katie will back me and I hope others will.
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, you may not see its yours. But others see it. I have posted Pics everyone says thats a great, Like Pix said about the sunflower against the barn, I don't know for sure if it was just a statement or if she really did. But I know she would not have said if she didn't mean it. We don't tell tales. We say truth when we see a great photo.
And to think of a calender, with that Pic on it for say one of the Fall or winter months, I would like it more than a cabin in the woods in the snow.
I rest my case.
^_^
Good going, Mary.
P.S. Okay, sometimes I just say nice things. Yes, I do, I'll admit it. But Carole, not this time!!
Thank you, Im ready ti fight. LOL
Carol are you hearing this ??????
LOL - yup. I'm reading . . . and appreciate you guys very much!!
All I have to say is do it, you will never know till you you try.. I know you have some great pics.
Hugs
Good night all, have happy dreams
So right, Tills! And I absolutely did mean my comment about the sunflower photo, which I think is a keeper! Enter that one as well. Generally, if I don't have something to say that's positive, I just say nothing. So if I say something, I pretty much mean it.
I wasnt going to enter any photos this year, but then I thought maybe I'd go through my vacation photos and see what I have.
Yes, let's have lots of participants from the PNW. It's beautiful here and you guys have captured it nicely.
Carole your first stove/pot photo is very artistic. I think you have something there!
Go for it.
Linda
And to be honest Pix, I was not so sure about it, took a second look and I did enter it before you said that. You have alot to that are really cool.
Whats funny is last year there where some photos that I thought where not so great but won or came in as runners up. I don't know how mine rated don't really care it was fun to do.
Hope you see you all join in.
Good! Glad you entered it. Since people vote on the photos, I think sometimes the winners get the most votes from their friends. On the other hand, a couple years back I won a couple of categories and I didn't have many friends yet, so who knows? I was really surprised. Wish there had been money attached! Oh, right, but I'm truly satisfied with the honor. I think laurie won some last year, if I recall correctly.
Yes, it was the one with the sun rays and the old barn, if I remember right. The most fun is looking at all the photos at judging time, then the heats on when you like 6 but only can pick 3 and 5 of the 6 are friends, and, and, and so on. Then you get a headache. LOL
