Orange trumpet vine from seeds?

Dandridge, TN(Zone 6a)

I've gotten some seed pods from our wild orange trumpet vine, I think it's Campis radicans but too lazy to look up the correct name... lol.

Any hints on germinating? Should I wait until spring or sow them now?

Thanks!

Hope this can get you started ......

Quoting:
Sow indoors in winter. Barely cover the seeds, then refrigerate for 6 weeks. Or sow outdoors in fall in mild winter areas. Full sun to part shade.

Beware of where you plant this vine. I had one for twenty years on an old clothes line post in the yard. It was a beauty but the roots spread. It started sprouting up all over the yard even up to fifty feet away.It started getting into sewage and septic lines and clogging them. I had to cut it down five years ago but the roots are still trying to sprout up new vines all over the yard and I cannot get rid of the roots. So just know that yours may be a very invasive type and could cause problems one day.

Thank you. Wow, yours really is invasive.
We don't really have a yard, we are out in the middle of some woods. Our honeysuckle is somewhat invasive along our driveway, but there are only a few trumpet vines, and they don't seem invasive or even vigorous for that matter. I'll try planting the seeds in some pots and then just leaving them out for the winter, that should give enough cold time.

There are many vines with the common name "trumpet vine." If your has leaves as shown in Lonadown's photo, then it is campis radicans, if the leaves are smooth on the edges, possibly bower vine or crossvine.
