I tried very hard but didn't manage to find an exact match. Perhaps someone recognizes it? Pictures taken 8th May in my garden
CLOSED: Don't mangae to find Id of this Syrphid fly..
I think it has to be Epistrophe eligans , I got mine ID'ed for certain on diptera and uploaded the pic but they apparently had problems with the site and it got 'lost', although they don't put on all posted pics there is a lack of female variations there. The patterns do vary a lot.

Mine, when I get around to it I will put it on DG!
I think you must be right , I had a feeling it could be E.eligans because I had some pictures of the male also taken in my garden in the same period but then when I searched I couldn't find an exact match ..
But as the patterns can be variable that would explain it..
I also had difficulties with the Diptera site some time ago, first thought it was my computer but then found out that the problem was with the site.
Yes, that's true they really need more females of Epistrophe eligans on the Diptera site, they only have one with a side view.
Your female does look different than mine, so it interesting to see the types of variation!
Thanks for the help!!
