I just found some lily bulbs I forgot to plant this past spring. (Cleaning out the garage for my amaryllis.) The outside scales were soft, but most of each bulb is firm and white. They all had these baby bulbs growing on them in various sizes. I'd like to plant them and grow big bulbs .
If I plant all of these babies (just below the surface) in pots on my sunroom, how long will it take them to grow into flower producing bulbs?
(I planted a few in the spring and they have long leaves, but I don't know anything about when they will actually be blooming bulbs.)
Thanks for your help!
(I put this in bulbs too, but got no hits)
Baby Lilies
I usually just tuck my baby lily bulbs in the ground around the mother bulbs so they will grow roots in the winter & come up next spring. Maturity differs depending on type of lily. Asiatics can be blooming in 2 years. Orientals or species can take much longer. A start in your sunroom may mean you can have a bloom a bit earlier. I have seen a 2 foot stalk & bloom come from a inch diameter bulb.
