Then a carnosa I got from a guy who called it 'Freckles'. It has quite large leaves, really dark green and lots of freckles... don't know if it's a real name or not, but whatever it is I like it!

Wow! Beautiful foliage ... I Love the reds, but that 'Freckles' is great too!

I agree with Lin, beautiful folage. My potsii is in the sun and gets the red leaves too. I'll have to add hellwigiana and benquetensis to my ever-growing list of must haves. They are georgeous.

I don't have any of those so they are all on my "wish" list!

Oooh, I am loving that pottsii foliage! So pretty! I have a rhp that I got in the spring co-op ... and I should put it in more sun so it will get that nice colorful foliage!

Acclimate it slowly, Lin. I found the hard way that RHP foliage sunburns easily in our Florida sun! The leaf color is more indicative of new growth than increased sunlight. :)

Thanks for that info Barb. I'm wondering if I could move it to my screened pool enclosure to a spot where it would only get morning sun and then be shaded by early afternoon. I think I will try it, slowly. Oh, yes our sun can be so intense down here, even morning sun! I know about sunburned plants, have had a few over the years, usually from moving things around, getting sidetracked and leaving them out too long! Last week I took H. brevialata out into the back driveway to give it a BATS bath (found some webbing and thought it might be mites of some kind.) I have a huge plastic planter bowl that doesn't have drainage that I use for dunking plants so I mixed up the bats in water in that big bowl and sat the brevialata down into it to soak up the BATS solution ... it sat there for two days because I got sidetracked and forgot it! I am so glad that location is shaded from the intense afternoon sun!

Not a good picture but I love the veining in this one I got in a trade last year. I forgot to look at the tag but I think it's H. aff finlaysonii?
