CLOSED: SE Missouri: Tiny stick-like insect

Cape Girardeau, MO

I found this little guy crawling around on a potted plant in my office. I left him there and over the next two days a co-worker found him crawling on the wall across the room. He's only about 1cm in length, with bright red eyes, and very long antennae which he rears back when threatened as if to mimic limbs. When feeling overly threatened (ie when I tried to slide a piece of paper under him to take pic ) he curls all his limbs into a ball like a spider. I assume because of its size that I have a baby here, and to me it looks like some sort of stick insect but I can't seem to find any similar photos on the web to identify, which led me here. Can anyone help with this one? Thanks
Brad

Looks like an immature walking stick to me.

It is very unlikely that this is a stick insect nymph, based primarily on the relative position of the eyes and antennae as well as the spacing of its legs. It could be a very young nymph of an assassin bug (Hemiptera/Heteroptera: Reduviidae) - see http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/32671513
