Blahblahblaaahblah, cool. Are you pinching neck and wings there?(not tightly, obviously, but...)

(Zone 7b)

At no time were these chicks manipulated to get the results here.

The method is simple take a chick and flip it on it's back in the palm of your hand sometimes they stick their legs right out and other times they need a little time to calm down.
When relaxed they will give a result right or left leg out Hen and both strait out Rooster

well, if this is true, then lt.major mumble is a hen, and cookie is a roo

Clarkson, KY

Sorry I meant to make that clear. I didn't know if my fingers should be near their necks, kind of holding them, or not? Or if merely making them relax was the main thing? Aaaaw maaan, I said you obviously weren't hurting them{{whiiine}}...

I can't stop giggling at the 2-hen picture. They TOTALLY look like synchronized swimmers to me, doing their little routine. Now I can't get that out of my head and I have been giggling my butt off here. Imagining a kiddie pool full of hens sticking their leg out in unison. Hee hee heeeeeee!

Grownut, you always go stickin' your foot in it! Hahahahahahaha! Nice whine. Harmony is sure to see your genuine distress... ;-)

I put my fingers under their head when I do it. I find it makes them kind of "chill out" faster and then they stop kicking both legs as if they are trying to ride a bicycle.

By the way, chickens don't ride bicycles.

Clarkson, KY

Or do synchronized swimming?!

I know, I live with my foot in my mouth! It's a wonder I can still talk as fast as I do...;-)

Okie dokie, here's a serama hatched this morning. Maybe it's a girl!

And even I can see it...lol. Looks girly from here!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

She's so little I can do the flip with my fingers the other way, so as not to garner any accusations of neck pinching from the peanut gallery. ;-)

So, the day I received my 102 cornish2 day olds, while I was transferring them into their semi-perm home, I tried this on them.. I ordered all cockrels.. they all held both legs up tight.. I was happy.. I didn't realize till just now I had it backwards.. for me either its 102% right or 102%wrong.. OH MY..

Clarkson, KY

Mine did that a couple of times. Took 'em a while to relax and let it all hang out...the females were much more lopsided in their insy-outsie footsie patterns

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

ump... grow your just all over me today.. lol.. now how many times did you want me to flip 102 chicks...?
Oh my..how time flies, they were hatched the 10th.. so they are almost a month old.. and SOOO ugly.. is it to late to reflip them?

I feel so sorry for them.. they are all pins.. and hardly any feathers.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Darling pic Commander Moxon.. looks like she's trying to do a High-5

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

I think that would be a high-4 Agent ZZ!

bumping up

Lodi, United States

I selected three Barred Plymouth from the feedstore (okay, y'all have heard this before--but support me in my weakness) based on small clearly defined head spots. Brought them home and tried the chick flip--all three pulled both legs in hard. Repeated attempts over the next week with same result.

Recently I've noticed that two are looking more rooish--larger with lighter barred patterns--shorter stumpy tails, more angular heads, larger combs and sparring with each other. The third is darker, smaller, longer tailed, with a tiny comb and a sweetly rounded head--she doesn't challenge like the others.

But! Now they all pull one leg in when flipped!

We'll see...

Clarkson, KY

As long as they still stick something out I think it qualifies for "Harmony's Flippin' Technique". The males are s'posed to let it all hang out. The females take their time deciding. Kinda cute actually. Mine keep changing their wittle minds. 'Maybe I'll just put my left foot out. Or do you think I'm cuter with my right foot out..? laaa-titaaah-titummm....The males are more..Duuuude....that feels gooood.
then they cock their heads and blink at you, expecting massage or room service or something. lol.

My problem is that while the actions are true to gender, the gender switches daily!! Oh well, they're still young for commitment, right?

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

That is too funny Grow.. such a good description though! I love the look the males get... lights out.. zzzzzzzz

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Very cool. I'd flip a chick if I had one, but alas we're in the land of pullets now....

Must.... flip.... something....

I think I'll go flip a kid or something. ha!

(Zone 7b)

The two hens just looked like they passed out when i flipped them.
Grow you may be over flipping when you are getting the mixed signals i flip once if no result i will turn them back over after i have sweet talked them and calmed them down.
I don't flip every day i take the first flip as what they are and don't flip again over flipping could cause a false negative response.
Sometimes someone may flip till it shows what you want it to be HHHHMMMMMMMM

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Ya put your left foot in.. Ya put your left foot out...

(Zone 7b)

Please remember everyone this is an experimental fun activity i don't want anyone doing in some poor chick because it's not what you want.

I was just hopeing to let all here give it the test to see if indeed it works or if it's a flop.

Just Curious fun.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

... you put your tail feathers in and you shake it all about...

Lodi, United States

You mean we can't sue?

Judge, Harmony told me that I would definitely have all pullets with her certified chicken flippin technique....now I have a roo. I demand restitution!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Do the flippin chicken and turn yourself around..

(Zone 7b)

"Thats what it's all about" and sue i don't know nobody by the name sue
