Wow you guys are tearing it up...
We're actually seeing a lot more these days too! Congrats on the VF Chrysalid Thea!!
A Variegated Frit came by to see us yesterday, :-S
DAILY BUTTERFLIES Page 49
Beautiful Pipevine Deb, thought you were pulling my leg with the first pic. I couldn't see the orange on the ventral side, but when I enlarged it I see it was the dorsal caught at an odd angle. I know I chased the PV at the Nature center for ever before getting off a shot or two.
I have GFs all over my Passi vines today. But didn't take a camera out....yeah I know...I know.
Debnes, yes! That's the only thing encouraging about the end of butterfly season! I'll have some more birds and enough light to shoot pix!
Wow just look at all those wondeful butterflies and caterpillars. I want polys!!!! Waaaaaa!!! I've got two huge pipevines and no takers! On a good note...a malachite flew by me at work today. This was a nice surprise as there isn't a single blooming plant anywhere near where I work. Guess it was just passing through :o)
OFF TOPIC:
Haven't had a chance to do any butterflying this week. Have been puppy sitting my brother and sister-in-law's three chihuahuas :o) They are a handful! Even my cocker spaniel and terrier took refuge on the guest room sofa to stay out of their reach!!!
Found out they can amuse themselves quite well with a simple cardboard box!!! They also like playing on the treadmill...I think they like the sound of their nails on the canvas belt.

Great update on the cats Melanie. Really like that ZST cat!! Nice pics of the Buckeye and ladies nanny. The little pups are adorable Cat, kind of like taking care of three two year old though I bet! lol!

Cute puppies!! I have a little minpin.
A VF cat in my crate, and a tulip on my camera: this week turned out not so bad (and my sick kitty cat seems much better too!).....Thanks everybody!!!!
love those Gulf Frits!!
How far north do those go?
They are up as far as N Carolina and Kansas.
well darn.
Yup, nights here have been chilly too. I had two GF's eclose this afternoon (maybe late morning) and they didn't seem to want to leave the crate. Just when I thought I'd better get advice from ya'll about overnighting them (would it be all right if they stayed in the crate that long?), they got lively and wanted out, so they were on their way about 5p.m. I hope they'll be okay in the chilly night air.
I'm seeing very few swallowtails of any kind these days. Things really changed after our first cold night. Still quite a few GF's though, and sulphurs, and long tailed skippers. One butterfly bush is still putting out some nice blooms, the other is slowing down, and I'm planting a third one this weekend. Lantana is still blooming nicely.
Nanny_56 - - - Minpins are sooooooooo cute too. We had one years ago. They look like someone put a full sized dobie on a xerox machine and hit the reduce button :o) They have the attitude of a full grown dobie...but can't do much teeth damage :o)
Well, all....am done baking muffins and packing my lunch. Am driving out to our local NABA International Butterfly Parkour for the monthly butterfly meeting.
Sure hope I get to see and photograph some uncommon and rare butterflies.

I haven't posted many pix of butterflies around our neck of the woods lately. Though, I check on this thread daily for those purdy b.f. you've shared.
~Cat. I'm looking forward to your pix upon your return. LindaTx8, I've seen those PL, common Buckeyes in our area in early summer, but none was noticed here lately. I missed them.

I've seen many Sulphers and G.F. and an occasional Monarch here and there. I've yet found any Monarch cats. in the garden 'til now.
