CLOSED: Really dark scorpion

Dave,
I found this scorpion in our bedroom. I have lived in the Texas hill country for decades but have only seen the medium brown scorpions. Any reason this one is so dark-almost black? ( I covered him in clear tape so he wouldn't escape)
