Beautiful Gardens Jkom! It seems that there really aren't many true reds in many plants. I have Hydrangea Glowing Embers as well as several others labeled as red. The same is true of Hyacinths. At best they are a deep Rose or Fuschia. Your combinations and foliage are quite lovely.
Good shade plant combinations
Really beautiful jkom. And such abundance along with the color yet each plant seems to stand on it's own while being part of the composition.
This is giving me a serious case of zone envy. The gardens are just gorgeous.
Gorgeous gardens, jkom. What amazes me are the plants you have that I'm also growing up here in the north - Jack Frost Brunnera, Endless Summer hydrangea, Snow Angel Heuchera, the lamium - they all look more exotic and tropical in your pictures! Maybe I'd look better, too, if I moved south! Peg
That's a good one Peg!
Isnt it fun?
I am envious of the plants coming up already! I never thought about this until I join this awsome site. I have used the phrase zone envy so many times! Mine are just starting to pop. Will post some photos when they are growing. GE I love your photos! Mine are now starting to fill in nicely also. The newer part of the yard is really pretty when all is open. I have some new trilliums that are now starting to bud. And many other new plants coming up. Several new hostas that I planted last fall. I haven't even seen them yet, and still can't LOL. Have a great wednesday. Ronna
jkom your combinations are so artful and lovely. Thanks for sharing them.
Beautiful Chuck. What a peaceful setting with all of the order in that garden. Stunning
wonderful peaceful place you've created theere Chuck!! So nicely manicured!! Great place for prayer time or meditation.
Wow. Lovely gardens. I've only recently started working on a shade garden, so it's nice to have some ideas.
Doss- I can't believe you can get lavender to grow next to hostas. I don't even try lavender anymore- I think if I even look at it in the store it starts to die.
I don't have much to share on this thread, but this is one combo I like- shell ginger and azalea.
lavender grows just about everywhere here. Love the ginger. And Ronna I can see why you like to sit there and enjoy the view.
Gardenlady: Can you tell me about your giant primroses? Do they last for many years? They are lovely -- but I've never grown them.
I have had them for several years. I would say around 8-9 years. Gosh I hadn't thought of it in a while. But every year they multiply I have devided them several times. They never disappoint me. Every sping they pop up just beautifully. This area get some morning dappled sun. More now because no leaves yet. They do stay green all summer and will blossom later on also. Just not as hardily. I really love them. I have several of the smaller variety also. Ronna. But the pacific giants are my favorites.
Ok, I'm on it!
What lovely combos. I particularly like the ligularia and the fern together. Such striking contrasts.
thank you.
the picture of the bleeding heart and hosta with the little girl statue has a lovely carpet of sweet woodruff...always a lovely shade plant. i have wanted a bleeding heart forever. If anyone out there has a tiny start or volunteer of one to spare, I would cherish it
