Late Germinaters?

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

What should I do with seedlings that germinated in June and still don't have their first set of leaves? I really want these plants, they are Centranthus ruber and a hardy Geranium.

How many are you dealing with? If its just a few I would winter them over in a window or sunny room.

Yes it's not that many, but I don't have a window for plants. The way my house is set up stinks for houseplants! : (

Mmm - sounds like you better grab a couple of fluorescent bulbs to set up in your basement or mud room...

So the only thing I can do is grow them in the house all winter? I just know myself - I am an indoor plant killer lol.

Oh well, guess they go into the compost bin then! They just may stay warm out there...

how about setting up a mini greenhouse with a few bottles outside? You can put them into the ground, and put a cover over them. I have a plastic 2 liter bottle, with the bottom cut out, over a rose cutting that I want to have extra protection. I also have some plants set up in the Creel method. Do a web search on that, and you can find pictures and instructions. These let you leave the plant outside while providing them extra protection and grow time. Good luck!
