Confusion between EBs and Home Made EBs etc.
Ya'll what is a GTB (Gardener's Tomato Box)? Is that the square foot one available from Gardener's Supply? Also, I have a coupon where it says that I can get 5 EBS for $175 or 10 EBS for $344 using the code Department I-AGS9 is that a good deal or not? It's just the EBs with the mulch covers, not the kit, I don't need all that.

I got mine last year for 25 bucks a piece. I have checked the clearance and have not seen any this year. I sure would like to pick up 10 more, altho I doubt I will be able to afford more than five.
I gotta start watching the clearance section on Earthbox.com. I'd love to get a few more...although Serg told me yesterday if I bring another EB into the yard the dog isn't going to have grass to potty on.
As far as the greens soak them in cold salt water for an hour or so...if it gets creepy crawlies off of kale it will work for greens.
Garden Glory: I'm thinking about getting 5 more for now instead of 10 and then waiting to see if they get cheaper? What's my chance of that happening?

Is that including shipping? Because on the EB website 5 is 140.25 plus shipping. I know they had a half price shipping deal during the holidays that might still be available. I have already thrown away the flyer but I'm sure Tplant or one of the others still have one with the code.
Aranas: Yes, that is including shipping, and I think their sale is over, I wished they'd extend it though, but if you order 5 with the code you get 5 for $175 which includes shipping. I don't need the mix as I buy my own.

I don't buy the mix either...I got 3 for Christmas but I bugged my Dad early so he'd order when they still had the special. I ordered him one also that I'm pretty sure given a year or two will come to live at my house *G*
Just an update on dinner: IT WAS A TOTAL HIT, Thanks to Farmerdill who saved the day!!! Here's what he told me to do:
Saltwater brine. I used two 18 gallon rubbermaid tubs: one for the brine, one for the rinse bath. I used SIX BOXES of salt to about 3 gallons of water. Enough salt in the water to float an egg (that I had to borrow from my neighbor since I had already boiled my last 4 eggs for breakfast!) I cut the leaves and dunked them down under the water. ANYTHING that was EVER alive became immediately DEAD as soon as it hit that salt water and floated to the top! I did all the collards first as they were hardly bothered by any pests -- it was my mustards that had the aphids. Mustards went in for a dunk and those aphids came right up! Also, three cutworms I had missed -- dead -- immediately!
One important thing I learned about the brine and the mustards -- that much salt will actually begin to "cook" the mustards so the brine bath was a much quicker process for them -- no soaking whatsoever -- mashe 'em down under the water, a quick swish, out, and rinse with a good blast from the garden hose on the undersides of the leaves to knock off the salt and the aphids.
Finally, all leaves dunked into the fresh water bath in the other tub. I mashed all the leaves down to the bottom of the tub and examined the water. Nothing was floating! Tah Dah!
Dinner was a success, and a good time was had by all!
Gymgirl: Wow, now that is a new year started off right. Mine will end well, hopefully, as it sure didn't start well. My phone got staticy, sounded better on a CB than on my phone, my DSL went down, I put my car in the shop as it was bouncing down the road instead of rolling. But, my DSL is up, the phone works great and now, waiting to hear how much it's gonna cost to fix the car. Hopefully, it won't be too bad so I can afford to buy 5 EBs.

If you are anywhere near Ellenton, Florida, you can stop in at their store and buy what you need and not pay shipping. Blake Wisenant, the inventor is usually there in the store and is a real hoot.
Dorothian: I have no idea where that is but will definately look it up. LOL
