My pygmy date just slid all the way over onto it's side during the hurricane-force winds. Since the ground was still wet, we propped it back up and tied it to our porch. And yep - no power. 12 days without it and that began at 11 pm on Friday.

I for sure lost my baby foxtail ... possibly the short one on the left as well. Still waiting to see on that one.

Branches in front of our house. We have no large trees on our property (only trees are tropical) nor on our neighbor's. These had to be blown from those you are seeing in the background of the photo or somewhere else a good ways away.

The car wash next door had their roof actually cave in.

Our evacuation was nice! This was taken at Aquarena Springs in San Marcos.

Glass-bottom boat rides at Aquarena Springs. Celeste (my baby girl) loved it!

Wow, I haven't logged in for a while and hadn't seen all these hurricane pics. It's all pretty shocking! Thank you for sharing them!!!!!! Thankfully it sounds like no people here were hurt, even though it's so sad enough to lose any of our living things.

Charlie and I often wonder if it would be better to be in southern Texas growing hibiscus than here in California because of all the problems here. But there are problems wherever any of us live. It's kind of interesting how resilient we gardener types are though! We just replant and keep growing, no matter what happens! We might change to different types of plants or change the way we grow them, but our love of raising living things does seem to keep us going.

My heart goes out to all of you!
Cindy
