Tall Order: Shrub for container that is fragrant

Brooklyn, NY

...and that can overwinter in container in the northeast. We are in NYC (zone 6) that I treat as zone 4-5 for container plants. We need to have shrubs by our entrance that can provide some fragrance and interest as much of the year as possible. Any ideas? Too tall an order? Cheryl

snapple,
Those look a little small!!
wawknboots,
What height and width do you have in mind? Do you want fragrant flowers or will just foliage work?

Rosmarinus officinalis var 'Arp' is cold hardy to Zone 6. Its very fragrent. It probably wouldn't overwinter in a container outside. If you take it in for the winter or put it in the ground it should.
