Hi Dany, are all the flowers on the vine patterned like this one?

Looks like it crossed with something else.

I have seen these marks on my blooms before, and they seem to be present right after the bloom unfolds and they go away by noon or when the sun hits it. Did your last all day?

dany - The lighter color being displayed is known as the
decolored crest (pattern #12)

This lighter coloration can often present when the temperatures start getting cold and / or when there are temperature fluctuations...

How consistent is the pattern (?)...when did you first notice it and (as Beth had mentioned) are you seeing it in the flower all day (?)...

During the summer the flowers was blue and when the 10 degree celcius night are coming only the hatsu arashi next to my house , in container, produce all day long this kind of flower.Other plants in the garden, where it's supposed to be colder, still make blue flowers.
so ! you are right it's a problem of temperature

For me it was the way to ask the question :
how to choose a flower to begin a new line , a new type of flowers ?
using a " natural " mutation it's the simple way for a beginner.

a flower how " care " a mutation will pass on this difference ?
and with this " heavently blue " too ?

Hey Dany - The Ipomoea tricolor usually produces 5 ribs, but when it produces only 4 ribs, the result in a square looking flower...very interesting and it would be nice if the trait would be passed on with some consistency...

How to create a new line...pick out the ones that have features that you like and hope it gets passed on...or try some intentional crosses with hand pollination...

Darren - What a pretty effect you have on your blooms! Love the color of this one, too!
