Determining which are actually the seeds!

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

I harvested what I thought to be seeds from some of my plants before Ike hit. Now I am trying to determine what the seeds are exactly. Can anyone tell me about these? They are a medium sized daisy. Are the seeds the little black specs or the bigger feathery pieces?

Your bb isn't near ripe yet. When it is it'll be brown. The seed pods will be brown, in your pic they are still green. They take a while to mature.

There is much confusion about bb seeds. I have received bb seed in trade only to have it be chaff. Your best bet is to wait until you see the pods starting to pop on their own and grab some that haven't popped yet...then just plant or store the entire thing. You can also bag an entire faded bloom, that way you will not lose any seeds. I have no idea where those seeds go to, but they do go. The seeds are rather small and thread like, very fragile.

Another option is to cut the faded blooms from the bush when you notice the mature pods starting to open and shake them into a paper bag (or whatever you have). Then don't even bother separating the contents when you plant them.

BB is also easily started by cuttings, so messing around with seeds may not even be something you want to consider. Most folks say they just take a cutting and stick it in the soil next to the original plant or layer it and before long they have a new plant.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Heathrjoy, that helps a lot. I need to prune that BB anyway as it is getting kind of leggy!
