Here is a close up showing back fluff. I swear there are different shades in there.

yep i see different shades in that last pic. mike says the feathers still in the crisilis looks buff cause it has a yellow look to it. i can see why he says that but the opened part of the feathers look white to me.

this is pics of my little bit older splashes i think r the washed out splash coloring due to splash x splash mateing. this is a frizzled cochin the down is not splash color. the feathers look white with blue splashed on it. this pens colors r blue/black/splash and birchen.

here is a pic of younger babies together there is a noticeable down difference in color. the darker i think is a normal splash the other 3 i think r washed out splash. i don't know why but ur baby being splash didn't occure to me before as a possiblility. if mine have white color to them and r washed out then mabe that's what ur baby is also.

Interesting pics - I think that last one is very similar. I'm so anxious for her wings to start emerging some more. I agree that the tips do look pretty white, although not "bright white" like I see in the show silkies. It's more of a creamy white. I think the washed out splash looks like a good possibility.

Silkie wing today....lookin' very white....

OK, I'm been meaning to ask for awhile. What do you mean by showgirl? A girl you're going to show or is this a breed?

(Zone 7b)

It appears some folks have went to bed or something?

I think she means she a show chicken i don't know of a breed called show girls.

Lodi, United States

Show girls are derived from Silkie/Turken crosses. So they have these long elegant naked necks and big poofy topknots and bodies--like a Las Vegas showgirl--minus the pasties, cause the are birds you know...not mammals.

Hey I found a site that sells chicken diapers for house chickens--anyone interested?

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

yes a showgirl is a breed of chicken. it origionated from a silkie mateing to a turken, then it was breed back many generations to a silkie to make it a silkie with a naked neck gene. give me a sec and i'll add a few adult pics.

this is one of my showgirl roos

i love this pic it's too funny. this is a showgirl pullet stretching to snag grass to eat. they have black naked necks not red like a turken due to the silkie genes their skin is black like a silkie as well as they have silkie feathering not barbed normal feathers like a turken would.

Well knock me out with a feather didn't know that was a breed thanks i do know it now and how unsual and pretty all at the same time.

Sorry for the misinformation Lazy_Lady

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

HA! I love it... gotta get them some pasties! ;)

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

showgirls r one of the newer breeds, there is still many out there who have never heard of them or seen them. most people don't like turkens they think they r really ugly so noone usually wants them. so showgirls were made to pretty them so people would like them to get to know the turken breed better and to appreciate the turken qualities.

however if bred to enough generations as mine r they will not throw crosses. mine breed true u can only hatch silkies or showgirls from them due to genetic makeup not a turken or turken feathering.

this is one of the girls in moult so she don't look her best but it's a good front view shot.
