Anyone try this before? What did you do and how did it come out? Look here http://www.tissuecon.com/Plant%20Tissue%20Culture%202.htm for an idea of what I am talking about.

In short answer - not that bad for the advice, just a couple hundred for the advice I need with all the plans to carry it out for my areas. I am just not sure it will work so before I buy the cow I wanted to see if anyone else had heard or done this type of working before?

Sounds very interesting...I'll be watching to see how it goes for you. I've always steered clear of tissue culture stuff, because it was too difficult and expensive.

Their pictures look quite impressive.

Please post your progress.

Will do - It looks like a *cheap* way to do some planmts. And they claim that you can get close to the mother plant on DLs

do you know how to do the actual tissue culturing?

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Yes and no - I took a class and did some work in the Lab at Southwestern, but never at home or on my own. Looks like a way I can afford to try to do this at home - so class yes the high costing right way but never at home due to cost of supplies.

I looked over the link and looked over your ingredient list. I personally, would not use rainwater, but distilled water. The whole purpose with tissue culturing is to have very sanitary conditions and there is nothign sanitary in rainwater.

Microbes and particles of soil are carried in rainwater. it doesn't rain dogs and cats, it rains tadpolls and fishes.

before you spend that kind of money I would get a real street addy from them too. I got to bottom of page and saw email addy said tissuecultreCON.com

I stil hunting through google pages. Ther eis a guy who put pages on the web years ago that does alot of mass production of tissue culture. he showed you how to build everything yourself cheap and all the different medias listed to for the growing media.

Starlight - Will look for them, I have and addy for these folks - in India. So no way for me to go there and check up on things that way. I have seen the Babyfood jar method, it is ok but I was wanting to find something cheaper and that gives the plants more light faster to get them in to the market faster.

Have you considered gettign the kit from Kitchen culture Kit LtD. The kits are about 20 bucks and for a few bucks extra you can get kits that contain special media for different plants , plus online help and discussions. Might be a good idea to get the kit and experiment there first and ya get plenty of supplies.

I will ask tuesday where the cheapest and best place is to get supplies from. I taking advanced mycology this semester and we making cuture plates allover the place. That somethign else ya might do. If ya have a college near you is call and talk to somebody in gentics and plant patholgy and ask them where to get the best stuff and also check with your local extension office. Tell them you want to get into tissue culturing and have then contact the colleges and get you for free all kind sof info on tissue culturing and where to get supplies.
