How do I know when my Solomons Seal seeds are ready? I've got these little black round berry type things hanging in a row under the leaves. But they are hard. Do they burst open when ready, or do I pick them now? Some of my plants were yanked up by the painters. I managed to save the fronds by putting them in water until the seeds are ripe or whatever they do when ripe. In fact they look a little green and soft. I've never tried to save them before, but I'd like to.
Solomons seal seeds,
I don't have any experience with Solomon's Seal, but it is unlikely that seeds will ripen properly on an unrooted cutting. Still, you've nothing to lose by trying.
Hi Janet, Good, then I'll just try and watch closely to see what will happen. I've never collected the seeds before so I don't have any idea how close they are to being ripe, but as you said, I'll watch and see in case this ever happens again Doris
