Not sure what these are ...

I received this seed now a vine from Elizabeth from Korea. Interesting looking leaves and buds. Because the writing is in Korean, I can't read what the cultivar of these seeds are. I believe it is a mixed pack.

This vine has not bloomed yet, but here you can see the buds. Interesting how they look!

This one I received from Shawna. She had "Kikyou Booty" on the label. LOL!

Another interesting vine. Unusual leaves and buds. No blooms yet on this one either, but looks like it might bloom very soon!

Here is a close-up of the buds on Kikyou Booty! What is this vine?

And I love the Dai vine. So thought I would post it here, too. This is an I. nil, correct?

Thank you Ron for the IDs on the I. hederacea. I thought the same thing when I saw the sepals and small buds, but wasn't sure. Interesting leaves. Now I need to read up on this species to find out more. First I. hederacea I have been able to grow in an area where I can study them. I had one grow briefly over the summer before Hurricane Fay destroyed it.

Here is the bloom on Kikyou Booty NOT. :-) Pretty little thing. I must know more. Do they get tall/big? I have it along my picket fence and that may not be the best place for it with all the other vines. Hmmmmm ...

Here is a closer view of the bloom. Though not showing the throat at all.

Pretty Becky, but I will tell you that little guy is a bit aggressive. They look pretty against a white fence or wall but get a little out of hand. Mine is actually coming out today so I don't have seeds all over.

Thanks, Ronnie! I was wondering about that. I will keep a close eye on them. I might try to cross these two that I am currently growing to see what kind of leaves I get in the next grow-out. I love the leaves! Flowers are small, but a pretty sky blue. But they have already wrapped around and grown up one of the picket fence bars, so I was thinking they might get a little outta hand if I don't keep a close eye on them. Thanks for the warning about the seeds!

Is the Ipomoea hederacea a perennial? I read that it has a long taproot. Should I have planted these 2 in pots instead of the ground? If so will dig them up and transplant them safely into large pots. How long of a taproot are we talking about?

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

Becky - The length of the vines can vary depending on the strain and environmental factors, but they often generally grow like Ipomoea purpurea.

Ipomoea hederacea is an annual and I have not known the roots system to be substantially different from Ipomoea purpurea...

P.S. - The same plant can potentially carry for both the cordate and multi-lobed leaves
