Gourmet Magazine 6/07 showed a photo of small pots planted with seeds using a small rock on top of each pot as insulation, absorbing sunlight warmth I imagine. Does anyone have experience doing this? Many thanks.
Insulating Seedlings
A rock on top of it? Interesting. I'd think rocks around it or under the pot (altho that blocks the sunlight) would be a little more beneficial. Doesn't the rock block any sunlight a seed might need?
It seems like a bit of a takeoff of a cold-frame - basically a box with a glass top inside of which plants or seeds are kept, but using the radiant warmth of the sun in the cooler months to provide warmth.
