i have lupine coming up from dropped seeds - winter sowing should do a better job of getting them started!!

This is a good thread...thanks Kass for all the fall seed planting advice. My friend down the street had the most fabulous daisies...yellow with red center and some red/brown with yellow centers. I actually thought they were some variety of rudbeckia I had never seen so I dug it up and transplanted it. Then I was at the garden center and saw a pack of seed that looked just like the yellow ones...some kind of daisy (can't remember the exact type). Anyway, I got some seed heads from my friend's and there are a ton of both colors. I have an area by my dog house that has bare dirt already. I think after frost I'll spread a bunch of these per instructions above and see how they do in the spring.

Kass, thanks for this thread. I had seed I meant to sow last fall, but just 2 or 3. This is a great list. I can probably get some in while I'm cleaning up my beds. If you pull out a big enough weed it loosens the soil and leaves a big space LOL

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

My pleasure!!!! I am excited and I will start planting some more tomorrow... I was silly enough to let one datura pod to explode and send seeds everywhere... oh those seeds grow even in grass... can't help but liking this plant that ends up being so big...

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm a bit concerned as to just what in our garden will have self-sowed itself for next season. When you combine the rainy season we had with the lack of available time for both Anna and I to get outside in the garden ... well, let's just say we won't be winning any awards!!

There's much to do this weekend, I think. Now, I just have to find some extra time, or re-prioritize my 'To Do' list.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

speaking of seed - if anyone is interested in my annual fall seed swap... http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/909493/

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm headed to that link now, to see if anything's left, or if anyone needs what I still have ...

Thanks!

Calgary, Canada

My fall seeders this year are:

Forget-me-Nots (myosotis sylvatica)
Sweet William (Dianthus barbatus)
