Ohmygoodness I'm so late to the party. Have had too many household projects lately to obsess on the garden or gardening or Dave's Garden even. Happy very belated birthday Tracey! Hope you've been celebrating all month. Laura

It's a new species for me. Kind of wierd looking, but fun--- L. lancifolium tigrinum. Here's another shot of the blooms opening.

Oh, is that the double Tiger Lily? Double Tiger's are cute little guys...

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

it's kind of like a tiger, but slimmer with a longer & slim petals. Takes a while for the double inner portion to open. Late season bloomer.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Is it a large lily or a small lily? My double Tiger's are small.

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

This species bloom is about 4 -5 inches across. Decent sized. I could see it blooming against a back fence from the house this summer.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

No, my double Tiger is maybe two inches wide.. Maybe.

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Is yours a L. lancifolium? L.henryi have smaller blooms.

My L. pardalium has the 2 inch blooms with heavy red on them & whorled foliage.

This is what it is.. :)

L. lancifolium tigrinum is a goofy name, and I'll venture, invalid. L. tigrinum was an old name for the Tiger lily, before it change to L. lancifolium. Wanda, yours looks like
Lilium lancifolium 'Flore Pleno'

There are a lot of hybrid "Tiger" lilies with wider petals on the market, and in different colors too, I might add. Yours looks to me like the standard lancifolium 'FP'. Lancifolium only comes in one color - orange.

I received some bulbils of same this summer from a gardener in Madison. Her flowers had 5 well formed hoses. They were blooming when we were there, Aug 3.
