I love the colors also, I only had one bloom like this, maybe tomorrow I will upload some of my MG pix, and post it. Rose

Pretty bloom! What cultivar is it? It looks like an I. purpurea.

Very pretty Snug!

Becky, I planted these from seed and they were purchased from Burpee. This particular morning glory is identified on my seed packet as the "Star of Yelta." The seed package also indicates country of origin, which is Holland.

There are additional photos on the link below where it is also identified as an I. purpurea .

I noticed that the link describes a "tall" Star of Yelta, however, they look the same as mine. I've been very happy with these morning glories, they are not only lovely, but they return every year as they reseed profusely. :o)

Snug - I thought they might be Star of Yelta which are I. purpurea. This cultivar was the very first Morning Glory vines that I ever grew. They were beautiful, but in my climate they reseeded like crazy so I started growing mostly I. nils. I nils make lots of seeds too, but they often don't sprout here on the ground after a cold winter, so they don't become as aggressive growing in zone 10a. When they say "tall", I believe that it means they grow very long vines like 15-20' in a season. Glad you are enjoying them! :-)

Thanks for your input Becky. I agree with your observation that they can reseed to a point of being too much of a good thing. It's a bitter sweet love. :o) Sung
