Here's a spot to inform your Friends here at Dave's of your status....just a spot to say I'm here.
After Hurricane's Katrina and Rita it was hard to track everyone down.
SO many threads.....
It's hard to round everyone up.
Please post or if you have info on someone here at Dave's let the others know.

I just talked to Marylyn_TX a few minutes ago.
She's in Houston.
Limbs down, Power out but otherwise OK!
Has anyone heard from Calilily? Isn't she near GAlveston? Jo
We have another, more universal check-in thread on the Weather Forum since many don't read this forum.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/902585/
Calalily is in South Padre Island, TX
Susie's in the Corpus Christi area north of Padre Island...

Looks like Galveston is pretty much gone under, I wonder how many survivors there will be when rescue/recovery gets there?
Am sending up prayers for Nadine and her DH Paul. Also for Caren and her family in Lake Charles. Also for Carter and Fred, and Daisy.
The path was originally forecast to the west of us, now maybe east. East is better for us. Projecting there will be tropical storm strength winds here this afternoon.
I have secured everything here as best I can. Ken is back in the Metroplex, fulfilling prior family commitments. The puppies can come in the back porch if it gets bad here.
I have washed all the dishes and have 10 and 1/2 gallons of water set aside. Have 2 big pots of water on the gas stove in case I need it hot. Also have three 5-gallon buckets full for flushing. We do expect power outages around here due to downed trees that were severely damaged in the droughts of the last few years.
I have my little lifeline to the world powered with fresh batteries. One of the things I inherited when Daddy died in the 80s. A real vintage item that still works great.
I am staying on Windows Live Messenger as long as power is still on.
Adding a whole bunch of folks to the prayer list now. Karen, Phyllis, Dave, Dave, etc etc etc.
here is the main checklist in weather so it's not too confusing. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/902585/#new
posted on wrong thread. Sorry!

I just went thru Ike--we just got power back on because we have underground
lines (house 15 yrs). Everyone and I mean everyone has major roof damage (on
homes less than 10 years--mine is 15yrs) and EVERYONE has fences down. Part
of my fence was built in April and its the only one in the neighborhood up.
My next door neighbors bedroom roof collapsed from water earlier this
morning. Those that did not board windows--there is a lot of broken windows.
And we were on the CLEAN side of the hurricane.

Major GOOD NEWS!
I just talked to ilovejesus99 in Baytown, TX.
Sandy ^8^ says she's OK!
LOTS of yard damage but her house appears to have weathered the storm in fine shape.
No power but her landline phone is working fine....
She says it's blazing hot and humid.
So hot her feet are sweating!
AND she's eaten so many Klondike bars she's sick......
If anyone whould like to call her DMail me please.
She said if she doesn't answer it's because it's too hot to run to the phone! LOL!
Ric
has anyone heard from smockette? or randy?
I put a call in to Randy but it went straight to voice mail. We are having trouble with cell phones so, hopefully, he'll get the message and call me back.
I'll call Smockette, too.
Just talked to Smockette. She's in good spirits. No power, of course, and lot's of trees down but she's her bubbly self. She's been having trouble with her cell as well.
Darius - Thanks for that link to the Weather Forum. It's good to
have one main check-in point.
I did hear from Ceejaytown's daughter. They are in The Woodlands, TX
and are all OK. No power at all though right now. Lots of damage to
clean up.
just talked to Daisy (Flowerjunkie) she and her home are fine. Said her yard took a severe blow and needs a chainsaw for some of the clean up. Has no power or home phone. If you want her cell number D-mail me
Ric (Henry10) may not be posting for a few days. The power is out, maybe for 3-5 days... I think he lives near Cincinnati? His cell works, though, and he will be in touch with those still not heard from after Ike..
KNOLAN AND DONNAB .....oh please tell smockette, randy and flowerjunkie to lmk if they need anything. for smockette i'll make a trip if she's in need. and tell 'ol randy i'll bring the smokes....or dawn might could be talked into it again. lol.
are there a lot of rescue people down there?
also, open invitation to our friends down there.........my house is a dog house but anyone is welcome to stay if they have a need.
Mama, Daisy could really use a helping hand with the clean up. She is alone and there are things down big enough that she needs a chain saw. She could really use some extra muscle if you know anyone that lives near and would volunteer some of their time
Just talked to Randy. He's doing fine. Took awhile to find a place with a generator to recharge his cell phone. He sounds great! Lost the back fence and a lot of his garden but he's safe and sound.
Mamajack, I'll be happy to let them both know.
would like to hear from folks in Conroe area: jojoringer, smedgekles, moodene. and Brigidlily in Lumberton...
I had a dmail from Dave, he said the storm passed right over them. No additional comments other than to answer my dmail from 3 days ago...
yeah, i want to hear from jojo too.
on the clean up....is it proper on daves to start a "clean-up help needed" thread. then everyone in close proximity could get together and/or folks from other parts of texas might manage to get a group up to go down there. i don't know daisy i don't think donna b. where does she live?
thanks for the info. on randy.
mamajack, yes I think it would be okay to start a thread or threads for "Clean-Up Help Needed"
Mama Daisy is a friend. She lives in Cypress, Tx.
hey guys,
just got back online, still no power, but a friend brought a generator. storm did tons of damage, lots of trees down, looks like a debris field out there! no damage to the house thought, so we are very lucky. dont know when we will get power back, still a lot of town without power. this one was waaay worse than Rita for us. actually, wasnt here for the storm, we were in Destin on vacation and came back Sat night, right after it went north. talk about a shock! went from a beautiful beachhouse with no worries, to the aftermath of Ike! actually, even though Destin was about 500 miles from the storm, the surf pickup up Wed and was scary by Thur. our house was right on the beach and the waves were over 16 ft and coming over the dunes! couldnt even step foot on the beach the last couple of days. glad to hear everyone, so far, seems to be okay.
tracie
South Padre Island had high water and flooding from the storm surge but no major damage. We didn't even get rain from Ike, and no wind which is good because we're still recovering from Dolly and lots of homes still don't have their roofs repaired. The surge from the Gulf came all the way over the Island and joined with the bay. Some places looked like a raging river!
I'm 3 hours south of Corpus Christi, about as far south as one can go along the Texas coast.
I spoke to MarylynTX last night. They are fine, still no power, but are hoping that it will be restored Monday evening.
Wow Hi Susie. Glad to hear you are o.k.
I'm back at home. Power was restored yesterday.
We've made the broad strokes of cleaning up the back yard. Have to rebuild one of the tomato beds today.
Cleaned the fridge top to bottom and just overall working on getting everything cleaned up. Glad to be home. Looks like all but a couple of the tomato plants survived.
Wow, it's hard to figure out where to post! Just got elec last night, got the internet put back together today. Lots of limbs and "tree trash" and the garden was beaten up a little, but all is well. Lots and LOTS of trees down all around here, on my street they all just missed houses, just missed cars, just missed fences. Did have some across the street and one took down power lines (good thing the power lines were dead), but still we were all very blessed!
We are all truly thankful for the cool, dry air that arrived Sunday eve, making it possible to leave windows open at night and to function comfortably during the day. Phone & cell service was severely spotty, much better now but still a challenge sometimes. Lots of thoughts to express, but too long to fit here, mainly thankfulness.
I went to Houston yesterday to spend the day with my grandgirl - thank heaven gas is more available. They had elec & water back by Monday, so I was glad to take a hot shower and wash my hair, but there was no internet to be had. It was so good to return home to electricity!
There are still sooooo many folks without power, and the weather is turning warmer and more humid. My heart goes out to all those people and I pray for a quick recovery. Thanks to all who have been watching and praying for your Texas and Louisiana gardening siblings, it's good to be back!
Proof that Ike can beat us up a little but not beat us down: rain lillies.
I am okay..no power yet..Ike blew my meterloop right off the pole..just got that back up today..what a long day it was..I am on a friends computer who i am staying with in beaumont..My boss and i ahve to carpool to work cuz gas was hard to find..my house is fine but my 5 acres yard is full of tree limbs and couple down trees..all my animals survived as well..
So I am cancelling my round up on October 25th.
See ya soon as i get my computer up and running..
Moodene, glad to see you check in! Ironic that you have to "evacuate" to Beaumont.
Hi all - glad to hear you are ok Mary, Moodene, Feldon, MaryLynn, Kristi and all others posting above! Power came on at my house in Houston yesterday late afternoon - 7days without power. It was a long week - but I'm feeling so blessed to have escaped the worst of the devastation. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers.
Trees and limbs everywhere - seems to be the worst part of our damage in my part of southwest Houston. The tree trimmers and the power workers from 30+ states are my HEROES! They are the reason I'm back on the Grid tonight. God Bless them and their families.
I have 4 tomatoes in EB's that have survived to this point. Good luck with yours, Feldon!
Maggiemoo - I thought I might knit through it all since it's so calming. But I've now found that knitting in the dark is just not possible....
Take care everyone. It will still be a long road back to normal for many, many folks down our way.
I got power today. YEA!!!!!!!!!! I was on the "Monday" list for expecting power, but it looks like it came on sooner. We have some roof and fence damage, but everything else is fine. My new butterfly garden perked right back up after I got the fence off of it. DH cut up and hauled to the street the pine tree that fell over. Other than the stack of tree parts along the curb, life is getting back to normal. I start teaching again on Monday. I enjoyed the "vacation", but it will be good to be back in school.
Tabitha
We still don't have our power, but all the lines are back up. I hope someone doesn't forget to hit the on switch! Can't wait to take a real shower!!
