Can someone ID these four butterflies. I shot them in South India 5 weeks ago. I hope at least one of them is a swallowtail because I have a swallowtail caterpillar image and I want to post both the caterpillar and the butterfly in my blog.
cheers and thanks

CLOSED: Can you ID these four butterflies?
#4 is a Plain Tiger, Danaus chrysippus

#2 looks very close to the Lemon Pansy, but some markings don't quite match.

#3 is a Lime Blue, Chilades laius

I think #2 has to be the Lemon Pansy, Junonia lemonias, the list shows no other close.

Still looking for #1. it appears to be a Monarch mimic.
Found #1! Don't ask how, lol, it's a Tawny Coster, Acraea violae

deadmanswill, those are lovely photographs and wallaby1 has made a great job of identifying them all.
We would love to see these images added to BugFiles, and I made sure we have entries for each of them.
First the Tawny Coster - Acraea violae. We already have an entry for this butterfly under its alternative name of Acraea terpsichore here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/4949/
#2, we also have an entry for the Lemon Pansy - Junonia lemonias here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/4636/
For #3 the Lime Blue - Chilades laius, I have created a new entry here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/5234/
and for #4, the Plain tiger Danaus chrysippus we already have an entry here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/117/
Please consider adding your images to each of these pages,
Kennedy
Hi,
Thanks Wallby for the wonderful identification. I never thought anyone could identify the species names of Indian insects! And thank you Kennedy for opening the entry in BugFiles.
Of course, I will upload all these butterflies to BugFiles. Would be honored to. Please give me a day's time, I am going out today and I can't post in my blog too. As soon as I come back in the evening, I will post all the images. I have some high quality pics of the above. Will upload them. Thanks once more for identifying them.
Cheers
