New Blooms

Yuma, AZ

Hello everyone...Just wanted to share some recent pictures of some new blooms from August and thus far in September. I have also included some of my slow growing and multi branching seedlings. It has been really hot here...and I missed a water or two so please forgive the scorched leaves in some of the pics.
Davie
This is one of my seedlings...an interesting white that is very slow to open and once it does stays very tight in the center.

This is another of my new seedlings, I am very happy with this one. It looks and smells very nice.

Same seedling multiple flowers...it threw alot of six petaled flowers...I hope this is a trait and not because it was the first time flowering.

This is an interesting seedling it is only two feet tall and over two years old. It has over 10 branches and going up daily.

It just randomly forms new branches...and check out the tip, thats the way it always produces new leaves...not directly from the top of the tip but from the side.

Great pictures, Davie! Thanks for sharing them. I love the overlap in that white, and the new red seedling is positively gorgeous. Whoa! That's a keeper. Your multi-branched seedling is funky, and I love funky!

This one is a littl over a foot tall, also a multi brancher and over two years old. I has very petite leaves and is a real slow grower.

Another white seedling, ruffled star type.

It's very nice. I hope it stays petite and dwarf and slow-growing. I think dwarves are the answer for those of us that want compact plumerias in our gardens. Big plumeria trees are wonderful, but at some point, you have to get a ladder to smell the blooms. I am hoping for a few dwarves out of all the seedlings that I've sown.

And yet another white seedling. This one is 4"+ with a great plumeria scent.

Thanks for the compliments Clare...I am really excited about what I have seen so far in my seedlings...and these are the first of many...I have about ten others with Dwarf potential, but it is too early to tell. I'm gonna give them a few more years and see what happens.
This is from Thailand and is called Miracle...as far as I can tell it is not virus...the first two flowers looked exactly like this...and the leaves have showed no signs of the virus. It flowers really slow here in the heat...so I will have to wait to see if the rest look like this.

Was sold to me as Slaughter Pink...bullet proof plant. It is the greenest of all my Plumeria Rubra in full sun. Its set is full of huge pink and yellow flowers that smell great.

This is another of my new seedlings I am impressed with. 5" pinkish orange flower with star center and sweet plumeria smell.

More great pictures, Davie. Thanks for sharing them^_^

That does really look like the plumeria virus, but it is weird that the first two flowers looked exactly the same because the virus causes random splashes and not uniform ones. I guess time will tell with that one.

I love that you're getting 5" flowers on your seedlings because it gives me hope. I lot of my seedlings have produced small flowers.

Excellent seedlings Davie, congratulations. I love that red veined one.

Yes, Clare time will tell...there are more flowers coming, I should know over the next couple of days wether it is a virus or not...be a really interesting flower if it is not a virus! I am really excited about the size of blooms some of my seedlings are producing. I hope you get some larger flowers in your upcoming seedlings.

Thanks Hetty...really gets me excited about the seeds you sent...

AWESOME SHOW!
thank you and dont shoot the shadow of a man in your plums tonight.
Im only looking ;0

The Thais have learned to clone and produce those splashes without viral influence.
They are remarkable.
I tip my hat and bow out on new varieties to them
i am however the root master and grafting madman wuahahahahaaaaa....

Yuma, AZ

Thanks...but you better be careful...I shoot first and ask questions later when it comes to my plumeria.
How are they producing the splashes without the virus? Irradiating seed?
How are the plants/cutting doing that I sent...did they survive?

Plumiedelphia, PA(Zone 7a)

everything survives here lol almost....
yours are tops and doing well thank you much
Vishnu Gold is waking up in time to go dormant lol or be put into the heat chamber for the winter so he blooms next year.
Im not sure on the exact nature of the cloning its a bit hush hush and very very competitive over there so ... let em have at it, ill sit back sip a beer and buy the ones I like lol!!
I hope you are satisfied that youve removed the 'virus' from your collection.
Pm me if I owe u anything man.
Ive been known to be generous at times, stingy ole fart that I am. :P

Good to hear everything made it in good condition and is doing superb!
I am still finding plants with the virus...most from Hawaii and Thailand...it really makes me wonder if it is really only distrubuted mechanically. Thankfully I have not found the virus in any of my seedlings.
We're straight...unless you come across a cultivar you think I shouldn't be without.

Thank you Dana!

Well I don't think the Miracle has a virus, it starts out as a red rainbow when it first opens, but by the time it fully opens it is faded and looks like a splash. Sheck it out.

Davie check it out this is maybe a month old and its already branching this was one that 2 seedlings came out of 1 seed. I had 5 do this 2 for 1 lol

That's amazing, I have never seen one branch at such a young stage...I would keep a close eye on that one.

Thought I would share a couple more seedlings that have started to bloom. This is another from the Daisy Wilcox that I got. Starts off bright yellow, but it fades to a pale yellow.
