This is a Acer Mandshuricum with one branch quite nicely colored and the rest of the tree is green. I can see no obvious reason why the one limb has colored. Any ideas.

One limb coloring
I saw the same thing happening to a big maple tree yesterday. A lower branch facing the street was showing fall color, but the rest of the tree was still green. I wouldn't worry about it.
I have a young redbud that does this- before the limb dies from canker. I put 2 cents on damage or disease. But I'll be glad to be educated if I'm wrong.
I think Sally has the right idea. Probably the branch is stressed differently than the rest of the tree. Whether that be from a canker, insects, root damage/disease, mechanical damage, etc., I couldn't say.
I'm in the 'don't worry' camp here, I've seen this often with maples, and it usually doesn't mean anything.

Thanks All, Guess i will join the Don't Worry Camp.
