I keep finding these in my bedroom... range from 1-2.5 inches, really quick, It looks very similar to one I had on my deck, it would run a foot and jump 2 - 3 feet then run another foot and jump. pretty cool.
CLOSED: please help ID my spider
we have a similar one here in florida. is it kind of "flattened" to the ground? i used to know the name. the one i'm thinking of is Huntsman or Huntsmen spider (common name). i'm not saying this is what you have though.

The two more likely possibilities are wolf spider (family Lycosidae) and fishing spider (family Pisauridae), with wandering spider (family Ctenidae) less likely. I would have to see the eye pattern to give a more accurate opinion.
