I found it inside the house sitting on the curtain some days ago..
I thought it looked very much like this one ;

It also fits that one of the favorites of the caterpillars is Ivy, (according to my insect-book), and I really have plenty of that in my garden..
CLOSED: Can I say this is a Willow Beauty-Peribatodes rhomboidaria?
It looks right to me, and I have had a few of those too! Reading the description, I can see the lines which meet on the forewing about 2/3 across. The first one I saw was on my kitchen ceiling which is pine, from one angle it was dark grey with a little blue, the opposite angle it looked deep blue!
I have had the brown ones too, may have lost the best of those as I lost a couple of days of pics. I got one not long ago which looked the same moth, brown, but with very little marking so it may have been worn or as they say, some have little marking. The legs are banded too.
Here's one I took on 1st August,
Yes, they do look the same, but yours looks like it has spot-light eyes, lol! Must be the flash of the camera..
Have weird problems with a regular disconnections all the time on DG..There's a thread going on the DG forum about it just now..
