CLOSED: Horse lubber grasshopper?

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5a)

I'm pretty sure this is the same one that franj posted about last year, but the coloring looks to me slightly different. I was thinking of posting the pic over on its BugFile page, but thought I'd get confirmation from the experts first.

Here's franj's thread from last year: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/777249/

Thanks for the help!

This does appear to be a horse lubber (Taeniopoda eques) - see http://www.sidney.ars.usda.gov/grasshopper/extrnlpg/ghwywest/nmfstaeq.htm

your lubbers are much prettier than ours.......maybe i've just seen TOO many of ours here lately! LOL

He is a truly handsome fellow, and now that I've got verification of his true self, I'll add to BugFiles.

Thanks, suunto, for the confirmation!
